Cancer is a systemic, not a localized, disease; it is a warning from your body that your diet and lifestyle need to be changed. 80% of your genetic predisposition towards disease can either be activated or held in check by proper diet and lifestyle. Every one of us has some cancer cells in our body every day, and our immune system is usually successful in destroying it, so a strong immune system is a key to fighting cancer. We only notice cancer if it overwhelms our immune system and grows into a noticeable tumor. Even when you've beaten cancer, it is important to maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle so that you won't get it back, especially since already know that you have a tendency to get cancer. In one study, they found live breast cancer cells still circulating in people who were pronounced "cured" 7-22 years later! This emphasizes the importance of taking care of ourselves even after we're "cured". (See the article "Too Few Cancer Survivors Pursue Healthy Lifestyles" below)

Dr. Julian Whitaker, M.D., wrote in his medical newsletter: “In 1971 President Richard Nixon made a bold avowal to conquer cancer. Unfortunately, the same percentage of Americans are dying today from this diseases as they were over 30 years ago. In fact cancer has now surpassed heart disease as the number one cause of death for people under 85.”

It's important to attack cancer on many sides at the same time: don't put all your eggs in one (or just a few) basket(s). Notice how many immune boosters, direct cancer killers (that cause apoptosis of cancer cells, or programmed cell death) that Jerry and I used, and that Webster advises on  www.cancertutor.com

Dr. Josef Issels (who incidentally had his clinic shut down, and was persecuted and put in prison for treating terminally-ill cancer patients with a combination of natural and conventional medicine instead of letting them die after the conventional medical establishment washed their hands of them) was able to cure approximately 17% of his cancer patients -- even after they had their immune systems all but destroyed by radiation and chemotherapy. If a person with cancer uses natural methods instead of chemotherapy and radiation, the cure rates are significantly higher, since the body's immune system hasn't been compromised and can help fight the cancer, wherever it might be throughout the body. Not all cancers can be cured, but studies have shown that most cancer patients live longer and have a better quality of life -- even if they do nothing -- than if they subject themselves to conventional medicine's overly-aggressive and mostly ineffective cancer treatments. Better than doing nothing, though, I would do everything I could to modify my diet and lifestyle, and take supplements, herbs, enzymes and immune boosters.

According to Dr. Rowen, killing malignant tumors is usually not difficult: the biggest challenge comes about afterward, to keep tumors from coming back once the patients leave the clinic and resume their normal lifestyles and diets. To prevent cancer's reoccurrence, one must keep the immune system strong with diet, lifestyle, some (not excessive) exercise, nutritional supplementation, and especially, a positive mental attitude.

Some of the supplements that I used for my lung cancer are (Note: see link to Jerry Brunetti's protocol on this page and my other cancer protocol pages, also -- most of the info on the various cancer pages are applicable to all cancers, human and animal):

Enzymes morning, evening, between and with meals: Now brand 4x pancreatic enzymes, http://www.luckyvitamin.com/733739029461.html  ($11.92/250) [2hrs after or 1 hr before food.  I took 12 in AM + 12 in PM + 4 ea meal = 36/day]; serrapeptidase, http://www.vitacost.com/DoctorsBestBestSerrapeptase  (40,000 units enterically-coated, qty90, $12.89); Now brand papain/bromelain, http://www.luckyvitamin.com/733739029720.html (qty360, $6.37) [I took 2-3 each time with Pancreatin except no Papaya before bed because it upset my stomach lying down right afterwards]; Betaine hydrochloride with pepsin, http://www.iherb.com/store/Search.aspx?c=Herbs&kw=source%20naturals%20betaine, [take with meals, in between food. I only take one with breakfast, but some people may need to take with supper, too. If you get heartburn afterwards, then take an antacid and stop taking the Betaine at that particular mealtime]. With meals: Livotrit, http://store.yahoo.com/spinelife/livotritplus.html; [Optional: Beta Plus, http://store.yahoo.com/spinelife/betaplus180t.html; Actizyme, http://www.betterlife.com/prod_home_page.asp?prod_id=5861  (180qty $20.49)].

Glyconutrients: Glycomannan, vitamins & supplements, [optional: larch tree arabinogalacans -- some is in Glycomannan], [optional: maitake, shiitake, reishi, psp or psk coriolus versicolor medical mushroom extracts -- I use Immune-Assist instead], astragalus (there is not enough in Glycomannan), fucoidan (there is not enough in Glycomannan), echinacea, goldenseal (don't use goldenseal if allergic to ragweed), Epicor, along with Now brand non-GMO lecithin to aid absorption of them. (I originally was using Mannatech's Ambrotose, but I am now using Glycomannan from www.glycomannan.com because it is better quality and lower cost. You can make your own glyconutrients if you'd like, although I personally like Glycomannan's formula and quality: http://www.burnoutsolutions.com.au/glyconutrients.htm)  Note: for men battling prostate cancer, Phil also offers bulk Glycomannan without the Chondritin Sulfate, since this may be problematic with prostate cancer. Phil and his wife, Joyce, are great people and I enjoy dealing with them.

[Optional: Complete Thymic Formula and Liver C/S Plus from www.thymic.com (supporting the thymus gland supports your immune system, and supporting your liver helps it eliminate toxins formed when your body kills cancer.)  Note: Instead of the Liver C/S, you can take the abovementioned Livotrit and Beta-Plus -- either is good -- but you still want to take the Milk Thistle either way.

I have recently switched to the following two products instead of the Complete Thymic Formula, since I'm already taking the vitamins & minerals that are in Thymic:

Thymus polypeptide fractions -  Enzymatic-Therapy-Immune-Strong, $13.09 [http://www.luckyvitamin.com/763948040063.html (Enzymatic Therapy - Immune Strong Wellness Booster (formerly Thymulus) - 60 Capsules. Contains: Thymus Polypeptide Fractions 375mg/ capsule) Enzymatic Therapy Consumer Service: 1-800-783-2286] Is from Argentina. Supports the immune system. The bovine thymus extract in Thymucin is made up of 350 mg of predigested polypeptide (long-chain amino acid) fractions. Predigestion results in greater absorbability (lower molecular weight fractions). Thymucin also contains the popular Chinese herb astragalus. Aka "Thymucin"  brand:P, Stock#: 74006, qty60 UltraCaps, 375mg Thymus polypeptide fractions + 125mg Astragalus standardized extract.

Proboost Thymic Protein A, 30pkts, CP9122) http://www.betterlife.com/prod_home_page.asp?prod_id=7468 (30pkts, $42.95) or http://www.vrp.com/det/9122.asp [The thymus is a small gland located behind the upper chest area, which plays a key role in proper immune functioning. This gland peaks in size at puberty, and then begins steady involution (shrinkage), until eventually it becomes incapable of producing certain proteins the immune system needs. All white blood cells (WBC’s) originate in the bone marrow. Some cells which can mature upon their release from the marrow are termed B-cells (“B” for bone). Other WBC’s are still immature when released from the marrow, and must travel to the thymus to receive proteins for activation. These cells are termed T-cells (“T” for thymus gland). The T-4 Helper cell is the “manager “ of the immune system. It is one kind of white blood cell that needs a thymic protein to be activated. Without a specific protein (protein A), the T-4 cell cannot function, and immune activity suffers. ProBoost Thymic Protein A supplies the missing thymic protein and activates the T-4 Helper cell. Each packet contains 4 micrograms (12 trillion active molecules) of freeze-dried, purified Thymic Protein A from calf thymus cell culture in a base of maltodextrin.] [LEF has Thymic Immune Factors (Bovine Thymus, Lymph and Spleen) $13.50/100 caps (2/d). Also, regarding ProBoost Thymic Protein A, Jerry Brunetti mentions that he used 1 packet/day or 1 ev other day for healthy people; more if sick.]

Also, cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil fights cancer, and moderate exercise moves T-cells out of thymus gland and around the lymph system so that they can help the NK cells. Avoid glutamate/MSG/Kimchi with MSG, and cow milk/cheese (see Blaylock's cancer reports).

Epicor 500mg (immune booster), http://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails.aspx?c=1&pid=8352&at=0 (Healthy Origins EpiCor, 500 mg, qty150, $59.99), http://www.vitacost.com/NSI-EpiCor  (500mg, qty60, $27.99), (http://www.iherb.com/ProductsList.aspx?c=1&cid=1910  for more), or www.swansonvitamins.com, Item# SWU368, 500mg, qty30, $14.99].  Read about it at Epicor Manufacturer's Site: http://www.embriahealth.com/  (I use this instead of Avemar, because it is just as effective, doesn’t have added sugar, and costs less).  There's more info on Epicor here, here and here. See my "Epicor" page for more information about Epicor and how to buy it for about 1 cent per day. (See XPC below for a more economical version of Epicor.)

AHCC 500mg (aka ImmPower) [http://www.vitacost.com/NSI-AHCC-Immune-Booster  (500mg, qty60, $39.99), or http://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails.aspx?c=1&pid=4252&at=0, Now Foods AHCC Immune Support, 500mg, qty60, $39.99].  AHCC is a strong immune booster which greatly increases Natural Killer cell activity, especially when combined with Epicor, PeakImmune4, Thymus, Thymic Protein A and Glycomannan.   Hydroponically-grown hybrid of several Chinese medical mushrooms, fermented to break down large polysaccharide molecules to approx 5,000 Dalton oligosaccharides which are more easily absorbed in the gut.

PeakImmune4 250mg (immune booster),  http://www.netnutri.com/browse.cfm/4.2460.htm  (PeakImmune4, qty50, 250mg, $38.99),[formerly "MGN3", now called Peak Immune or BRM4] Boosts NK cells 3 times (rice bran arabinoxylan from fermenting with only the enzymes from shiitake to break down the rice bran hemicellulose; can be used by people with mushroom sensitivities: no mushroom remains in final product.) (Recommended loading dose: 12/d (250mg) (4,4,4) for 4wks to start, then 4/d maintenance) www.biobran.org/research [BRM4=MGN3]  See http://www.biobran.org/comparison/ahcc.html for AHCC MGN-3 comparison (but I take both to be safe). [Fermentation or taking large dosages of Vitamin C taken with Reishi, etc. make it more effective against cancer by breaking the large molecules down so that they are better absorbed - Beating Cancer with Natural Medicine, a PDF by Dr. Lam]

Allergy Research Group, Nutricology, Russian Choice Immune. Russia's first choice for natural immunostimulant contains a specific strain of Lactobacillus rhamnosus lysate powder. These Lactobacillus cell wall fragments have shown significant immune system supporting properties. Dosage: 1/2 teaspoon two times daily, or as directed by a healthcare practitioner. http://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails.aspx?c=1&pid=8265&at=0  ($38.97, ARG-55710, Lactobacillus rhamnosus lysate powder 75grams, Serving Size: 1/2 Teaspoon (1.25 g), Servings Per Container: 60) [For more information, click here]

Dosages: For maintenance, I take 1/d Epicor, 2/d PeakImmune4, 1/d AHCC, 2/d Thymus polypeptide fractions, 1/d (or 1 ev other day) Proboost Thymic Protein A, 1/4 tsp Russian Choice Immune, and 2 teaspoons/day Glycomannan.  I mix the powders into distilled water with Berry Green, Wheat (or Barley) Grass Powder and Miracle Reds. For active cancer or infections, I would increase these dosages. Also note that moderate exercise moves NK and immune cells out of thymus gland and around lymph system.

For serious diseases, I would take one of these formulas, or use the rotating protocol of two different mushrooms at a time for 3 months each (see below):

  1. Aloha Medicinals, www.alohamedicinals.com  (Immune Assist Critical Care, qty84capsules ($.60g), 500mg, recommended dosage: 6-12 capsules/d. Voice or fax: 877-508-1077. http://www.alohamedicinals.com/IACC_MGN3.htm [84 capsules of 500 mg each = 1 week course of treatment at 12 capsules/day. Those who wish to use it as a maintenance dosage can take smaller quantities. Active Ingredients: Agaricus blazei - 58.5% Beta-Glucans (1-6, D-Beta Glucan); Cordyceps sinensis - 30% Beta-Glucans (plus Deoxyadenosine and other nucleosides); Maitake (Grifola frondosa) - 28% Beta-Glucans (Protein bound Fraction extracted according to Dr. Nanba's original formula); Shiitake (Lentinus edodes) - 40 % Beta-Glucans (including Lentinan and the Alpha-Glucan KS-2); Coriolus versicolor - 40% Beta-Glucans (including polysaccharides P and K); Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) - 40% Beta-Glucans (1-3,{8}1-6 D- Beta Glucan, plus Triterpenoids)]. My wife and I are using these currently, but at reduced dosage (4AM + 4PM for me, 3AM + 3PM for her) when we have infections, colds, etc. (along with Epicor, goldenseal, echinacea, astragalus, fucoidan, andrographis, and Glycomannan. Note: I also take 1 TBS AM + 1 TBS PM of Now brand Non-GM Lecithin because it helps in absorbing glyconutrients in all of the above). I am using Immune-Assist, and am quite happy with it.
  2. NorthWest Botanicals: Rick Miller at NWBotanicals (541-476-5588) sells the Immune Assist Critical Care (note that this is not the same as Immune Assist 247) for $59.95 for 84 500mg capsules: one week's worth at dosage of 12 caps/d for cancer. I would also take the thymus extract, thymic protein A, and Glycomannan. Astragalus, Fucoidan, Curcumin (Turmeric concentrate) and Pomegranate extract. Echinacea and Goldenseal (or Oregon Grape Root) can be added to your protocol too, but you need to cycle on and off these two so they don't stop working. Immune Assist contains concentrated extracts of: Agaricus blazei + Cordyceps sinensis HEAA + Coriolus [Trametes] versicolor + Ganoderma (Reishi) + Grifola frondosa (Maitake) + Lentinula edodes (Shiitake). HartAmerica (see link below) has qty84 500mg capsules (42grams) for $44.50, or $1.06/gram. http://www.pharmaceuticalmushrooms.nwbotanicals.org/products/immune84cc.htm, http://www.pharmaceuticalmushrooms.nwbotanicals.org/products/comparison.htm, http://www.pharmaceuticalmushrooms.nwbotanicals.org/index3.htm, http://www.alohamedicinals.com/ia-compare.htm?gclid=CPze_Lmfvo0CFRewOAodN1HRLg, http://www.hartamerica.com/IA_FAQs.htm, http://www.hartamerica.com/ImmuneAssist_Immune_Supplement.htm,

  3. JHS Natural Products, http://www.jhsnp.com/store/immunebuilder.html  [qty90, 475mg, $44.75, 888-283-6583 or 541-344-1396, Fax: 800-789-0002 or 541-344-3107. Other websites: www.jhsnp.com, www.mushroomscience.com] Immune Builder best for short term use -- e.g., when travelling to prevent colds, flu, etc. JHS said you have to hit a certain threshold with mushroom extracts before they work. Therapeutic dosage is 2-8 capsules/d of Immune Builder. They said yeast beta glucans is not as strong as mushrooms, and tails off (no longer works without taking a break) after 3-4 months. For more serious illnesses, cancer, etc. and long term, it's better to rotate several different mushrooms, using two of the mushrooms at a time for 3 mos per each combination: e.g., A+B, A+C, A+D, B+C, B+D, C+D, then repeating. The mushrooms most commonly used for this protocol are Maitake, Coriolus PSP/PSK, Reishi & Chaga -- 3 to 5 capsules twice a day.] 5 caps/d Coriolus PSP (400mg) = 3 caps/d Coriolus VPS (PSK). PSK is more highly purified, so it costs twice as much as PSP; could use the PSP instead, since it's more cost-effective, if you don't mind taking extra capsules. Both PSP & PSK/VPS capsule sizes are the same; it's just the strength that is different. [VPS Coriolus versicolor 36% 625mg; Agaricus blazei 45% 400mg; Cordyceps sinesis 16% 400mg; Immune Builder 6 Mushroom Combo (with Coriolus PSP) 475mg, $64.98; Lion's Mane 30% 300mg; Chaga extract 400mg; Maitake organic full spectrum 30% 300mg; Maitake Gold 1200, 2oz/60ml; Coriolus versicolor PSP 25% 400mg; Reishi Gano 161, 12% 400mg; PectaSol Modified Citrus Pectin powder 454g.] Their VPS is fruitbody Coriolus, not PSK: see http://www.elitelands.com/PSP_and_coriolus.htm and http://www.elitelands.com/coriolus_versicolor_extract.htm for info and comparisons of Coriolus PSP, PSK and fruitbody extract/VPS.

Dr. Blaylock has written papers about the effectiveness of yeast cell-wall beta glucan, and there are articles about human studies in the book Medical Mushrooms, but it seems that yeast BG is not as strong as mushroom BG, tails off after 3-4 mos (doesn't work any more unless it's cycled), and affects different parts of the immune system than each of the mushrooms in turn do. Even each type of mushroom has its own benefits from its own unique form of beta glucan, also. Just using 1,3-1,6 beta glucan is not enough, because every type of mushroom and yeast has it's own unique combination of beta glucan and various proteins and peptides that allow it to uniquely stimulate different cells of the immune system. That's why it's important to use a variety of them, and to use ones that are carefully extracted via a hot water extraction so as not to damage each ones' unique molecular structure.

Doctors Best Fucoidan, http://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails.aspx?c=1&pid=7139&at=0 (Doctor's Best 70% Fucoidan, 300mg, qty60, $28.58-some discount based upon size of order); http://www.vitacost.com/Doctors-Best-Best-Fucoidan-70  ($28.48); http://www.betterhealthinternational.com/productDetails.asp?prodID=8010 ($26.95)

When my immune system needs an extra boost, for example when I have a bad cold or respiratory infection, in addition to the above, I take one of each of the following in the AM and one in the PM):

For cancer, other supplements I used were the following:

Coconut Oil (Swanson)  (See Blaylock's cancer report - 1 tablespoon a day; prevents cancer, kills germs) Also, extra virgin olive oil fights cancer. No glutamic acid, methionine, glutamate/MSG/Kimchi with MSG, cow milk/cheese (see Blaylock's cancer reports). Goat's or sheep's milk or cheese is better.

Super Artemisinin extract (http://www.iherb.com/store/ProductDetails.aspx?c=Herbs&pid=ARG-55400) Long term administration (greater than 1 month) should be monitored by a healthcare practitioner and include liver enzymes and hemoglobin testing. Combining with antioxidants or iron may theoretically decrease effectiveness. Detoxification reactions may be experienced by some individuals. Artemisinin seeks out cancer cells and combines with the excessive iron inside them (quite a bit more than RBC's have) and detonates a free-radical "bomb" inside them, quickly destroying them! It also works on iron-containing pathogens, such as drug-resistant malaria. IP6 is similar; I used Artemisinin for 3 months. Afterwards, I used IP6 (cycled: not constantly) and took mineral supplements, but not at the same time of day as I was taking the IP6 (it'll bind the minerals and deplete your good as well as bad minerals). Dr. Rowen does consultations over the phone (or you can travel out to California and see him in person), and is very knowledgeable about Artemisinin. If you talk to him, ask him about the advisability of using IPT (insulin potentiation therapy) in your case, also. See below for his address, phone number and an explanation of IPT. Dr. Rowen's article about Artemisinin and Cancer: http://www.springboard4health.com/notebook/nutrients_artemisinin.html

IP6 Optimizer with Gamma Oryzanol & Ferulic Acid - http://www.iherb.com/store/ProductDetails.aspx?c=Herbs&pid=JRW-20015  (JRW-20015, contains: 50mg gamma oryzanol, 50mg ferulic acid, 300mg IP6. IP6 is a water soluble antioxidant and protects against hydroxyl free radicals by chelating with reactive iron. Take 1-2 capsules/d with water on an empty stomach, apart from any minerals or medications. qty120 capsules, $8.37 before discount) [www.LuckyVitamin.com - $8.08] Note: I used Artemisinin for 2 months, then took a break, then used IP6. It couldn't hurt to monitor your hemoglobin with this, too.

Curcumin (Turmeric extract) http://www.luckyvitamin.com/790011140764.html   $15.03, qty120, 500mg Jarrow Curcumin  [888-635-0474]) and Pomegranate extract (ellagic acid) -- These cause apoptosis (cancer cells to die), http://www.vitacost.com/NSI-PomActiv-Pomegranate-Extract  250mg, (250mg 70%, qty300, $19.99). Curcumin and Pomegranate were a very important part of my protocol (as was Cayenne and the other items).

Ellagic Insurance Formula (see ingredients via a web search; ellagic acid, Graviola, green tea extract, enzymes, vitamins) and/or pomegranate extract (www.swansonvitamins.com has a good quality extract for a good price) -- I took a lot of these when the cancer was active, starting out with about 4 three times a day and gradually increasing to 18-24/day of EIF, but now for maintenance I take 11/day of NSI's Pomegranate (equivalent to 6/d EIF). Talk to JD Dennison at http://www.hopeforcancer.com/ellagic.html if you want to take EIF and have him step you through it: you need to gradually increase the amount you're taking, (and stop increasing for a while if you have lung cancer and are suddenly experiencing difficulty breathing from fluid buildup -- mainly from the Graviola) so that the toxins released from killing cancer won't overwhelm your body's ability to get rid of them. EIF is useful for all types of cancer, since it encourages apoptosis, programmed cell death of cancer cells. If you substitute NSI's pomegranate totally for the EIF/NSI combination that I use, be sure to see the ingredients for Ellagic Insurance Formula (http://www.hopeforcancer.com/ellagic.html) and get the other ingredients separately (and increase the number of NSI Pomegranate capsules accordingly, except for the Selenium, which Dr. Blaylock says to limit to 200 mcg/day from all sources). Note: JD advises using Coral Calcium along with EIF, but Dr. Blaylock advises that we should get our calcium from greens, along with an increased intake of vitamin D-3 (at least 2,000 IU a day), vitamins K-2 and C, magnesium, and a high intake of vegetables (especially leafy green and yellow vegetables), so that the calcium gets deposited in our bones, not our soft tissues and arteries. Also, Coral Calcium contains a lot of heavy metals, including lead. I used Jarrow Multi Easy, which gave me 500mg of Calcium (in addition to that in all of my greens), and also took Magnesium Citrate (750mg/d), Potassium Citrate (800mg/d, taken 4-99mg capsules with breakfast and another 4 with lunch; taking them at supper upset my stomach when sleeping) and Vitamin D (1600IU/d). Also, not everyone needs to more alkaline (including not every cancer patient -- contrary to what you might have read on the internet or in books). Each of us is an individual, with our own Metabolic Type (See Metabolic Type page). For example, since I'm a parasympathetic-dominant metabolic type, along with some fruit, healthy oils, etc. (other things mentioned on this page), and organic vegetables (mostly raw or lightly steamed, except for greens that are high in oxalic acid and need to be cooked to remove it), I eat moderate amounts of free-range, organic (hormone and pesticide free, grass-fed -- or algae/plankton-fed, in the case of fish) skinless chicken and turkey breast, and wild, line-caught (NOT FARMED) salmon, sardines and other fish, especially those high in omega-3 (not King Mackerel, tuna and other large fish, because they contain a lot of mercury and PCB's). They have Salmon from Alaska in cans at the supermarket that are high in omega-3 and low in mercury and PCB's, and they're often on sale for around a dollar for a large can. By the way, just like you shouldn't overdo carrots because they contain a lot of starch, you don't want to overdo spinach: not only is it high in oxalic acid, a toxin, but it is also high in iron which is a free radical and shouldn't be eaten in excess of the body's requirements. In particular, avoid eating spinach and other iron-containing foods with vitamin C and other acids that increase absorption of iron, and eat vegetables with any meats to reduce the absorption of iron from meat (heme iron from meat is much more absorbable than iron from plants). Note: this does not mean to avoid carrots and spinach, for they contain many very important phytonutrients, just to be sure to eat a mixture of vegetables. For more info about iron, see: http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0857/is_n1_v14/ai_18027035/pg_1  I followed this same diet when I had cancer, and now that I don't. I took some enzymes with each meal (to help with digestion), and most of the enzymes between meals and before bed (to digest the outer layers of cancer cells so they cannot hide from the immune system). Researchers have found that the pancreas actually has a duct that releases enzymes directly into the bloodstream, besides into the first foot of the intestines (i.e., the "duodenum").

Notes about Calcium, Magnesium and Vitamin D: [ http://www.mgwater.com/gaosteo.shtml: High doses of vitamin D have caused soft tissue calcification in experimental animals, and have been implicated in renal and other comparable lesions in humans. An extensive review of vitamin D intake in the USA has disclosed that the average American may unwittingly consume several thousand units of vitamin D from fortified foods. This overdosage with vitamin D can increase the risk of soft tissue calcification from excess calcium. Since the depressed calcitriol levels of patients with PPMO have not been related to vitamin D deficiency, but to its decreased synthesis, contributed to by magnesium deficiency, there is no justification to administer more than the recommended daily dose of 400 IU of vitamin D to postmenopausal women. Most cases of primary postmenopausal osteoporosis (PPMO) are not caused by calcium deficiency. The commonly applied therapy of continuous supplementation solely with large doses of calcium is unlikely, therefore, to be of help. It is furthermore suggested that magnesium deficiency has a significant role in PPMO: magnesium is involved in calcium metabolism and in the synthesis of vitamin D, and in maintaining bone integrity.] (http://www.acu-cell.com/acn.html: taking larger amounts of calcium increases the risk of eventually causing a Vit D deficiency (unless someone's requirements are met through UV exposure or other sources).  This in turn increases the risk for breast, colorectal, prostate, lung, pancreatic and ovarian cancer, which Vitamin D is somewhat protective for. High calcium levels interfere with Vitamin D and subsequently inhibit the vitamin's cancer-protective effect unless extra amounts of Vitamin D are supplemented. Elevated serum calcium levels may indicate the presence of cancer. Adequate Vitamin D levels will assist intestinal absorption of calcium, magnesium and phosphorus. Excessive intake of Vitamin D will result in above-normal serum calcium levels, and calcium loss from bone.  So while supplementing much larger amounts of Vitamin D may protect from several types of cancer or be indicated with certain neurodegenerative conditions such as multiple sclerosis, they can unfortunately also lead to osteoporosis and calcification of arteries and other soft tissue. (Dr. Blaylock advises that we should get our calcium from greens, along with adequate vitamin D3 and vitamin K2 so that it gets deposited in our bones, not our soft tissues and arteries. [Dr. Rowen Feb8, 2006: "Osteoporosis Myth: More Calcium Means Better Protection". Blaylock 6/07: Other studies have shown that diets containing more than 2,000 milligrams of calcium a day (from all sources) dramatically increases the number of advanced prostate cancers when compared to diets containing fewer than 500 milligrams. There are two reasons for this: 1) calcium promotes the growth and spread of cancer directly; and 2) it can lower vitamin D-3 levels. Supplements of vitamin D-3 (2,000 IU a day) seem to reduce the risk caused by increased calcium. BlaylockDec2006_30.pdf: It is a myth that calcium is the cure for prevention (for osteoporosis). The best prevention is regular weight-bearing exercise, an increased intake of vitamin D-3 (at least 2,000 IU a day), vitamins K-2 and C, magnesium, and a high intake of vegetables (especially leafy green and yellow vegetables). In fact, a recent study reported in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that the best preventative against osteoporosis is a high intake of vegetables, both because of the high potassium content and the fact that a number of flavonoids in vegetables directly prevent calcium loss. In addition, avoiding a high intake of red meats is also essential. People who eat little or no meat have very low incidences of osteoporosis and this is confirmed by worldwide studies. Meat is acidic and depletes the calcium in bones. As far as risk of prostate cancer with high calcium intakes, this has been confirmed in a number of well-conducted studies and makes no difference if the calcium is from milk or as a supplement. There is some indication that this occurs mainly in people with low vitamin D-3 intake. A new study, also in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, found that only vitamin D-3 and not vitamin D-2 (the form in most cheaper supplements), worked. Previous recommendations (RDA) for vitamin D were far too low at 200 to 400 IU a day. New recommendations are at least 2,000 IU a day.) (See my "Metabolic Type" page for more about Magnesium and Calcium (as well as foods and other supplements) requirements being different for different individuals.)

GraviolaMax, Raintree Nutrition, Inc., Ph. (800)780-5902; www.rain-tree.com. qty 120 capsules $21.95 plus shipping, 3/$20.95 each, or 6/$18.95 each. More info in Mar07 HSI newsletter. (See above about Ellagic Insurance Formula section about fluid buildup). Anonna montana is a much more effective form of Graviola that the natives use instead of the original (Annona muricata) species of Graviola (Annona muricata). [Mountain Graviola is a new species of the genus Anonna, the active compounds of which are called acetogenins -and Taylor discovered it herself during a visit to her South American harvesting site. Though strikingly similar in appearance to the original species of Graviola (also known as Annona muricata), she noticed that natives never ate the fruit of this new tree-while the fruit, stems, and leaves of its close relative were regularly consumed by local tribes for medicinal purposes. After questioning them as to the reason, she was told that, unlike Graviola, the fruit from the Mountain Graviola tree (or Annona montana) was far too sour to be edible. But a closer look at the plant's structure revealed that this substitution had been coming at a price. Although the sweeter Graviola does in fact deliver potent curative properties, the less-palatable Mountain Graviola has nearly 26 novel acetogenins that you won't find in its relative-and even more of the acetogenin annonacin, which has been the focus of most of the published studies on account of its demonstrated cancer-fighting abilities and lack of toxicity.]

Cayenne or Red Pepper flakes and hot peppers - I used these liberally on my food at almost every meal. Besides being a good expectorant for lung problems, they cause apoptosis (programmed cell death of all types of cancer cells). Note: do not use black pepper; it is not a true pepper, and is thought to contribute to cancer. (See Dr. Rowen's article below entitled: "The Only Safe Way to Burn Cancer Out of Your Body".

Lots of Fresh Garlic, Onion and Ginger root (or powder): you can add this to your Vitamix blend of vegetables, if you prefer.

Ground cinnamon - lowers blood sugar. I also used gymnema sylvestre and yeast-based chromium to lower my blood sugar and keep from feeding the cancer. Also good are bitter melon and corosolic acid (from banaba or crepe myrtle).

Potassium salt (Morton potassium and sodium chloride) - I use this instead of regular salt on my food.

In addition to the above, I recommend using a Vitamix 5000 variable-speed blender that you run at lower speeds -- because the single or dual speed blenders generate enough heat on the blade surfaces to destroy the enzymes that are naturally found in food, and the standard juicers discard the all-important pulp. Use organic foods. The RAW vegetables you should focus on are: carrots, cabbage, green asparagus, broccoli, red beets (i.e. beetroot), beet tops, cauliflower and related vegetables. Peppers also have cancer fighting substances. The spice turmeric can be added as well. [from Dr. Blaylock: The cruciferous vegetables — such as broccoli (especially broccoli sprouts), Brussels sprouts, kale and cauliflower — are loaded. Studies have shown that these vegetables provide superior cancer-preventing power. A number of other vegetables are big hitters, as well. These include turnip greens, mustard greens, collard greens, cabbage (especially purple and Chinese cabbage), carrots, green and red peppers, onions, beets including greens, celery, parsley, eggplant, tomatoes, artichoke and cilantro. Of the fruits, the most important are cranberries, currants, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries and apples (especially the McIntosh variety).] The juice should contain a significant amount of cruciferous vegetables including: broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower (this is for both the cancer and the critical protection of the liver)  [Thanks to Webster Kehr at www.cancertutor.com for the above. Dr. Blaylock recommends that you use Environne Fruit & Vegetable Wash (www.environne.com) and scrub and rinse them afterwards. He also said that since insecticides penetrate several millimeters into the skins of apples, he advises peeling apples before eating or putting them in the blender. (See my "Cancer&Raw Food" page for more info.

Healthy Oils: I use Now brand molecularly-distilled, lemon-flavored fish oil; cold-pressed, extra-virgin olive oil; freshly-ground organic flaxseed (from www.flaxseedpro.com that I grind in a coffee grinder from the same place); Evening Primrose Oil; raw almonds (Note: this was before the Almond Board of California and the USDA decided to pasteurize almonds with heat, radiation and highly carcinogenic chemicals that are banned in the rest of the world, and still allow them to labeled "raw": http://www.newstarget.com/021989.html), so it's probably better to eat other nuts and seeds that you are sure are raw (but keep in mind that cashews and peanuts almost always have aflatoxin mold spores on them); raw pumpkin seeds; extra virgin organic cold-pressed olive oil; and some extra virgin organic coconut oil (1 tablespoon/day). Note: keep all oils in refrigerator, and add ground rosemary, lemon juice and some good quality, full-spectrum vitamin E to keep it from oxidizing, once opened. These oils normalize your omega-3/omega-6 ratio and fight cancer.

Steel cut organic oats - you can soak them in pure water in the refrigerator overnight to reduce cooking time. I have these with a little Stevia on them in the mornings. Baked cereals, starches, french fries, chips, etc. are high in cancer-causing acrylamides. I add 2 tablespoonfuls of freshly-ground organic flax seed to my oats, along with some extra water (which I stir in and make sure it covers the ground flaxseed so it will prevent oxidation), because the flaxseed absorbs quite a bit within a couple minutes. I usually let it sit about 3-5 minutes before eating to give the flaxseeds a chance to thicken. Note: flaxseed needs to be ground fresh each time, since it starts going rancid within a half hour. If you can't get steel cut, then rolled organic oats are the next best thing. Stay away from instant oatmeal, and those other types with added sugar, hydrogenated fat, artificial flavors/colors/preservatives.

Essaic tea or Sir Jason Winter's tea (note: I added Chapparal to it, since the tea that Sir Jason healed himself and others of cancer with contained it, but the FDA has made him remove it from tea sold in the US. See article on www.jonbarron.org about Chaparral and other “blood purifiers” (code for cancer-fighting herbs). (Now brand Essiak is in capsule form).

In addition to the above, for hormone-related cancers (breast, ovarian, prostate, etc.): Calcium d-Glucarate and DIM. For enlarged prostates and prostate cancer: Saw Palmetto, raw pumpkin seeds (or pumpkin seed oil), Beta Sitosterol, http://www.luckyvitamin.com/021078014157.html [qty60, $5.98, 021078014157], Pygeum bark extract, Stinging Nettle root extract (not leaf), Pollenaid 90caps/bottle [by Graminex in Saginaw, Michigan (http://www.graminex.com) 877-472-6469 or 517-797-5502], and BetterMan [http://www.betterlife.com/prod_home_page.asp?prod_id=7971].

Note: when buying supplements, it's better to get "standardized" supplements (i.e., ones that say "standardized for 24% of Silymarin" or etc.); otherwise, one capsule might have a lot of the active ingredients and the next might be only dried leaves with little or no active ingredient. Standardized supplements ensure that you are getting the same amount of active ingredients each time. Also, www.consumerlab.com tests supplements and tells you which have little or no active ingredients, in case you're not sure of a brand (they have tested many, but not all brands).

Avoid these: No white starch, sugar, chlorinated/fluoridated water, hydrogenated trans-fats, artificial colors, artificial or natural sweeteners -- not even honey, raw cane sugar, fruit sugar/fructose, etc. (except Stevia, which I get from www.emperorsherbologist.com ) BGH (bovine growth hormone) in cow's milk and cheese increases a hormone called IGF and makes cancer grow rapidly. Goat's milk (preferably raw) is better. Note that sugar feeds cancer, whether it’s “organic”, “raw”, honey, corn syrup, fruit juice, etc.

Essentials:

a.)    Clean air (I use HEPA filters in the living room & bedroom. No wood stoves/wood-burning fireplaces, burning candles, incense or air “fresheners”!) Also, avoid napthalene (often used to deodorize toilets and urinals), mothballs, camphor, Vicks and other camphor rubs -- especially with lung cancer.

b.)    Pure water (distilled, to which I add some magnesium: http://www.iherb.com/store/ProductDetails.aspx?c=Herbs&pid=NOW-01405 );

c.)    Clean house and environment (avoid harmful chemical pesticides, cleaners, etc. – we use half dish detergent + half water for June bugs; cucumber peels for ants; a spritz bottle with vinegar and another with 3% hydrogen peroxide for kitchen cleaning, using one followed by the other; vinegar + water + lemon juice for windows/mirrors; etc. Try to find non-toxic alternatives.

d.)    Clean body: The ingredients in cosmetics do not have to be tested for safety as the government doesn’t realize that they are absorbed internally through your skin. Aubrey Organics is one brand that is concerned with the systemic effects of its ingredients. Deodorants trap toxins in our bodies, which is especially significant in breast and lung cancer, although it plays a role in the detoxification of all types of cancer. Two brands I recommend are: Dessert Essence (Tea Tree Oil & Lemon Grass), http://www.betterlife.com/prod_home_page.asp?prod_id=10575 , 243048, $4.11, 3 oz; and Home Health Herbal Magic unscented, www.vitacost.com , HH 575091, $2.97, 2 oz (318858575091). If additional protection is needed, after washing, rinsing and drying, you can apply ethyl rubbing or drinking alcohol (not isopropyl or other alcohols – they’re absorbed through your skin and are toxic to your liver), wait a few seconds for the alcohol to air-dry, then apply the deodorant. To learn more, and find non-toxic alternatives: http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com, http://healthtruthrevealed.com/chemical-warfare.pdf, http://www.safecosmetics.org/your_health/poisonkiss.cfm, http://www.safecosmetics.org/your_health/index.cfm

e.)    Clean, organic food: see Dr. Blaylock’s discussion of washing the pesticides off your foods, and if you cannot afford all organic foods (I, for one, cannot), then which ones you should only get organic. (search for Environne below, and see: http://www.grinningplanet.com/2006/update-2005-05-24/pesticides-in-food.htm, http://www.foodnews.org/index.php, http://www.foodnews.org/fulldataset.php)

f.)      Enough sleep, rest, and freedom from excessive stress (some stress is actually good for you, but not if it’s excessive)

g.)    A moderate amount of exercise moves the Natural Killer cells and other immune cells out of the thymus gland and circulates them throughout the body. It also circulates the lymph and helps your immune system deal with cancer and infections. Excessive exercise is oxidizing and creates too many free radicals.

h.)    Imagery/Visualization: See the section entitled “Imagery/Visualization” below (or Edit, Search for it, using your browser).

i.)      Eat Right for Your Metabolism, Not Your Blood Type: Dr. Kelley cured himself of pancreatic cancer, which to this day is still incurable by conventional medicine, by eating an almost totally vegetarian diet, along with spiritual elements and supplements. When his wife became very ill, he tried the same diet on her and she became much sicker and almost died until he tried a last-ditch effort of giving her a lot of meat. She quickly recovered. Dr. Kelley spent many years investigating various metabolic types of people and what types of foods and supplements would keep each type in optimum health. You might have heard that everyone needs to alkalinize their bodies to recover from cancer by eating certain “alkaline” foods. Some types, such as parasympathetic dominant people, are actually too alkaline and need to be acidified! (See the article “Eat Right for Your Metabolism, Not Your Blood Type” in the section about Dr. Rowen below for more information.)

Regarding what is healthy and what isn't, here is an excerpt of a report courtesy of Dr. Blaylock (www.NewsMax.com/BlaylockReports), a board-certified neurologist who is also a naturopathic doctor:

If you listen to the mainstream press, you probably think that the perfect diet should contain lots of soy products, whole grains, vegetable oils, cheese and milk. Nothing could be farther from the truth. In fact, all of these promote the inception and growth of cancer. Instead, your diet should mostly contain highly nutrient-dense vegetables, a few fruits, lean meats, low-glycemic carbohydrates and purified water. It is important that your diet contain no cow’s milk, cheese, vegetable oils, processed foods, beef or beef products, soy products, sugar or foods containing it, artificial sweeteners, MSG (even in disguised forms) or fluoridated water.

Meats
The risk of getting Mad Cow disease (prion disease) is far too high to take a chance on eating beef. One beef product that puts you at highest risk is gelatin, which often contains neural cow components. It is also high in fluoride and the amino acid glutamate (an excitotoxin and a food additive commonly used to enhance taste). Many vitamins come in gelatin capsules or “softgels.” I would not take them. In addition, cattle have a very high incidence of two virally generated cancers — lymphosarcoma and leukemia. It has been shown that the virus that causes them can be passed to humans and may cause similar cancers. Those who work in the slaughterhouse are at higher risk for these cancers, while children who drink cow’s milk are more prone to leukemia. Eating poorly cooked beef (rare or medium rare) can put someone at risk of consuming live cancer viruses.

Hot dogs, bologna and other processed meats can put you at risk for Mad Cow disease and they contain cancer-causing nitrites. A number of studies have shown an association between pregnant women eating nitrites in meats and their children developing brain tumors.

Organically raised turkeys, chicken, pigs and even cattle are much safer, but I am still hesitant about recommending organically raised cattle, since no studies have been done on the incidence of viral cancers in these animals.

It is also important to avoid overcooked or seared meats, as they develop powerful cancer-causing compounds called heterocyclic amines, which are strongly associated with colon and stomach cancer. Barbecuing on an open grill is especially hazardous because of these chemicals. Some studies have shown that eating fresh vegetables with meats significantly reduces the heterocyclic amine danger, as do curcumin, quercetin, hesperidin and vitamin C.

As with most things in life, quality trumps quantity when it comes to choosing fruits and vegetables. While fruits can have important cancer-fighting power, I don’t usually suggest you eat a lot of them. That’s because most are high in sugar, which increases your risk of cancer, as well as neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. The link is that high calorie intake increases free-radical generation.

Certain vegetables contain extremely high levels of cancer-preventing substances, while others have very few. The cruciferous vegetables — such as broccoli (especially broccoli sprouts), Brussels sprouts, kale and cauliflower — are loaded. Studies have shown that these vegetables provide superior cancer-preventing power. A number of other vegetables are big hitters, as well. These include turnip greens, mustard greens, collard greens, cabbage (especially purple and Chinese cabbage), carrots, green and red peppers, onions, celery, parsley, eggplant, tomatoes, artichoke and cilantro.

Of the fruits, the most important are cranberries, currants, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries and apples (especially the McIntosh variety). You’ll probably notice that I omitted grapes, which do in fact contain a number of powerful cancer-preventing substances. The reason? Most commercial grapes are grown in California and are high in fluoride, which is used as an insecticide (cryolite) that is sprayed on crops. Fluoride, a very reactive element, binds to all the components of the grape and is still present even after the fruit is sold in bunches or processed into juice and wine. Organic grapes may or may not contain it, depending on the grower.

Fluoride has been shown to increase cancer growth and bone cancer risk by 600% in young men. Several major studies found that cancer death rates in cities with fluoridated water were 10% higher than those of cities with fluoride-free water.

Cancer Causers: Pesticides and Herbicides
I can remember, when I was a resident in neurosurgery, laughing at my friend’s wife because she religiously washed all her vegetables. I thought she was going overboard — a real health nut. Only now do I see just how smart she was. Crops in this country — on some 900,000 farms and millions of acres of land — are sprayed with 1.2 billion pounds of pesticide a year. Some 70% of livestock are also doused regularly with poisons, and that may play a major role in the proliferation of Creutzfeld-Jacob (Mad Cow) disease. Many pesticides, such as aldrin, dieldrin, endrin and heptachlor, have been proven harmful to humans and banned by the Environmental Protection Agency. The problem is that a significant amount of our food is grown in other countries — where the use of these chemicals is still legal. It has been determined that people living in the industrialized world have as many as 75 pesticide and herbicide residues stored in their fat cells. Most of these compounds are fat-soluble and are therefore trapped in the body for an entire lifetime. A recent study uncovered a strong correlation between pesticide exposure in young men and the early development of aggressive prostate cancer. Those exposed to pesticides lived only half as long as those not exposed. Another study found that postmenopausal women exposed to PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls an organochlorine pesticide) had a higher risk of developing breast cancer — if they inherited a defect in a special detoxification enzyme. And pesticides can also give the human papillomavirus more power to induce breast cancer. (See http://www.foodnews.org/ for a free guide explaining which produce is highest & lowest in pesticides; in case you cannot afford to get everything organic, I'd recommend that for any of the ones higher in pesticides that you are going to buy, you at least get them organic.)

This shows how a number of cancer-causing chemicals and factors can act together to produce cancer. Sometimes they combine, in a process called synergism, to become infinitely more powerful than they would be alone. In our everyday lives, we are exposed to a number of carcinogenic agents —  some weak, some strong. Many act synergistically, enabling two weak carcinogens to have a very strong cancer-causing effect. These food products neutralize the cancerous effects of pesticides and herbicides by stimulating the body’s detoxification systems, both in the liver and in all cells.

Another way to avert danger is by removing the pesticide and herbicide residues from your fruits and vegetables. Like my friend’s wife, you should carefully cleanse all produce in a vegetable wash. Several brands are available. I use a product called Environne Fruit & Vegetable Wash (www.environne.com). When rinsing your produce, always use fluoride-free water, since the substance will bind to your food. Some produce (peppers, squash, cucumbers, etc.) is coated with a wax that has been permeated by pesticides and must be scrubbed with a vegetable brush. I would also avoid the skin on apples, as poisons penetrate several millimeters into the peel. I have never seen a cancer prevention study in which washed vegetables were used, so you can see how most studies are misleading.

Fats: Friend and Foe
Fats have been shown to play a major role in the evolution of cancer. Some fats prevent it, while others promote its development and aid its ability to spread. I call these “good fats” and “bad fats.” Among the bad fats are the omega-6 fats, which include corn, safflower, sunflower, peanut, soybean and canola oils. A number of experiments have shown that these oils work as an activator for cancer, making it grow and spread like wildfire. They do this through a number of mechanisms, one of which is increasing the COX-2 enzyme. We call these the pro-inflammatory fats.

The good fats include the omega-3 oils and other oils that are converted into EPA and DHA, such as alpha-linolenic acid. The omega-3 oils come from algae, which explains how fish obtain them. This is also why farm-raised fish are devoid of omega-3 oils, which are composed of two nutrients — EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid). Of the two, DHA has the more powerful anticancer effect and it is especially efficient in preventing cancer of the colon, prostate and breasts. Pure DHA is derived from algae, and an adult dose is 500 mg. a day. For children ages 2 to 12, the dose is 100 mg. a day. DHA inhibits cancer using a number of mechanisms — principally inflammation reduction. Most of the others are beyond the scope of this newsletter. For more information on this and other cancer treatment topics, see my newly released book, Natural Strategies for Cancer Patients.  (See http://www.russellblaylockmd.com/ and www.NewsMax.com/BlaylockReports and his books http://web.mac.com/rblaylock/iWeb/Russell%20Blaylock%20M.D./Books.html)
The Carlson Company (www.carlsonlabs.com) sells both high-dose DHA (700 mg.) and one of the purest fish oils, a Norwegian variety that contains 500 mg. of DHA. It has a pleasant lemon taste. All oils should be kept refrigerated.

Flaxseed oil is also one of the good oils. It is composed of alpha-linolenic acid, which the body actually turns into EPA and DHA. But not all people can efficiently convert the oil — infants, small children and the chronically ill are among those who have problems. And the stuff very easily becomes rancid. A test, the Essential and Metabolic Fatty Acid Profile, will indicate whether or not you are converting the oil. There is a really good article about the different types of fats and their effects upon health and cancer at: http://www.jonbarron.org/newsletters/02/10-21-2002.php Note that, even though the specific cancer that Jon's mentioning in this article happens to be prostate, because he's addressing a trial that only was looking at flax oil's effect upon prostate cancer, it applies equally to all types of cancers, and health in general.

Here is some information from Dr. Jonathan Wright on fats:

Q: I read that it's unlikely that anyone would be deficient in omega-6 fatty acids since they're found in most vegetable oils. Is that true?

JVW: Omega-6 fatty acids are found in nuts and seeds, so it would seem logical that oils extracted and produced from them should contain adequate amounts. However, there are several steps in the production process of and use of vegetable oils (corn, sunflower seed, safflower seed, sesame seed, soybean, flaxseed, etc.) that basically destroy most of the oils' real nutrient value.

When manufacturers extract oil from seeds, they usually leave behind most of the vitamin E and other antioxidants originally present in the various seeds. Plus, as soon as the oils are extracted, they start to oxidize.

Storage of seed oils, especially in containers at home, involves repeated exposure to oxygen as the containers are opened and closed again, which causes further oxidation. Then, when you use heat up these seed oils to cook food, they're oxidized some more, and more of their nutritional quality is compromised.

Given all of these opportunities for oxidation, it's a small marvel we get useful omega-6 fatty acids from seed oils at all!

But it is possible to ward off at least a little of this oxidation. First, add at least 800 to 1,000 units of vitamin E to each container of oil as soon as it's opened. This not only helps keep the oil from oxidizing as quickly, but it also helps to make up for what gets lost in the production process). From there, try to limit your consumption of these types of oils to uses that don't involve heating them (as a salad dressing, for example).

Keep in mind, though, the best sources of the omega-6 fatty acids are whole unroasted nuts and seeds. And remember that even though you do need omega-6 fatty acids, the omega-3s should "outnumber" them.

Imagery/Visualization:

It’s important that you do some imagery/ visualization to help yourself get better. It’s a technique that strengthens the immune system. I taught Bernie Siegel about it in the early 1970's when my first wife had Hodgkin's disease. I didn't know as much about natural medicine back then, so I augmented radiation with imagery and the doctors at Yale, including Bernie, said that she recovered so quickly that they wanted to know all about the imagery (and said to keep on doing it). Shortly afterwards, Bernie quit surgery and went into teaching about imagery full-time.

My method of imagery/visualization is quite simple. You can picture opposing armies, with your army winning, or cotton-ball shaped white cells swallowing up and killing black dots representing germs or cancer cells. While you're doing this, tighten up your solar plexus muscles and hold them for a few seconds until you visualize the cancer (germs, if you're using visualization to fight an infection) being dead and your white cells (or army) victorious. Next, I visualize a peaceful, relaxing scene -- it can be any you want. Mine is lying beside a babbling brook in the grass, under a blue sky with puffy clouds with birds singing and being totally healthy and happy. The key is to go away from the visualization really believing that you've beaten it. I had a friend who had Lymphoma do this for a few minutes twice a day. (She beat it). You can modify this, for example picture Pac-men or opposing armies, or etc. The important part is to each time visualize winning and leave it feeling at peace and healthy. Many people find that it helps to listen to some healing/meditation music (such as Reiki or Merlin's Magic, available on Amazon) while you’re doing imagery and visualization; it relaxes them and contributes to their healing experience.

Besides just the obvious physical aspects of illness, the state of your mind, emotions and spirit are also very important in health and to overcome disease. Your mind can help heal you or help kill you. This is the principle of voodoo: people who are cursed and believe in its power to kill them give up the will to live, stop eating, their white blood cell count plummets, and they die. People who don't believe in it don't die (some witch doctors have resorted to killing them in the traditional way in order to avoid losing faith amongst the "believers". Also, many of us know of a person who has died from some cause or another and soon afterwards the spouse dies because they simply have given up the will to live, making it easy for a heart attack, cancer or some other opportunistic disease to develop and kill them. Use your mind to enhance your recovery from disease, rather than deter from it by using imagery or visualization.

Your belief system can also trap you into passively accepting treatments that have very low percentages of success (such as going with the flow, or with whatever the insurance company will pay for), rather than allowing you to make an objective study of treatments with a better chance of success. Your mind can help heal or help kill you. It can also cause you to deny that you should stop smoking, drinking, taking drugs, eating bad foods, staying out late, getting little sleep and not taking care of yourself, etc.

When you have a disease, particularly a serious one, it's imperative that you make the effort to do your homework and explore all possible alternatives with an open mind. Too often, patients refuse to even consider treatments other than surgery, chemotherapy or radiation until it is too late and they are at death's door. In general, alternative treatments have a much higher success rate with degenerative diseases, particularly if they are done sooner in the disease process, before the body is destroyed by surgery, chemo, radiation or drugs, than when death is inevitable. Here is a link and excerpt from an article discussing this concept. (Note that it's better to help your mind to heal your body by augmenting imagery with proper diet, lifestyle and supplements.)

http://www.naturalnews.com/023309.html
Dr. Noah McKay discovered the principle of non-locality, or what some people might call "the power of intention" or even "the power of prayer." And he found a way to apply it to his own health, allowing him to overcome a serious cardiovascular infection that nearly destroyed his heart. Through his journey, he arrived at a set of principles that are set forth in Wellness at Warp Speed; principles that can unleash what I call "spontaneous healing" -- a miraculous-seeming acceleration of natural healing that automatically follows the shifting of a person's belief systems.

It is beliefs, you see, that determine a person's possibilities in dealing with health challenges. People who believe in the limited options (and outdated paradigms) of conventional medicine are doomed to a life of disease and suffering. But those who free themselves from that outmoded pattern of thinking are able to tap into a whole new universe of possibilities for rapid healing. And since the body follows the mind, healing takes place almost instantly. The body literally creates a new reality based on what the mind believes. Symptoms vanish, and diseases become history.

This is what Wellness at Warp Speed teaches the reader to do. It reminds me of a case where a woman suffering from multiple personalities was diabetic in one personality, but when she flipped to her alternate personality, her blood sugar was normal. Her "disease," you see, was merely the expression of who she thought she was, and as her personality switched from one belief system to another, her body automatically followed by either turning on the disease or turning it off. There are many, many cases in medical literature where patients demonstrate nearly instant cures of cancer, for example, when given inert serums that they believe to be breakthrough anti-cancer medicines. While conventional medicine would write this off as a placebo effect, more astute observers of this situation realize this demonstrates the power of the mind to determine the health outcome expressed by the body!

Change your mind, in other words, and your body will follow. That's why real health transformation begins by shifting your belief systems.

Wellness at Warp Speed is the book that can change your mind in a positive way. Simply reading it is a transformational experience that can open you to new possibilities for health and healing -- even for near-spontaneous disease reversal. No belief system is a replacement for emergency medicine, of course, if you need acute care of a broken leg from an automobile accident, for example, but holding the right frame of mind is absolutely crucial for preventing or overcoming so-called "degenerative" diseases like cancer, Alzheimer's, diabetes, heart disease, osteoporosis and others. These diseases do not exist anywhere other than in the expression of your physiology, and that's determined largely by what you hold to be true (or at least possible) in your own mind.

An abbreviated protocol:

If it were me and chemotherapy looked like it would CURE me, not just cause some temporary tumor shrinkage along with destroying my immune system in the process so that the cancer would come back with a vengence, I'd take IPT (insulin potentiation therapy). Be sure to see my Cancer Radiation and Chemo herbs/supplements that are extremely necessary to reduce collateral damage if you do take chemo or radiation!

Note: You can get this much cheaper, about 1.1 cents a day by using Diamond V's XPC, available or special ordered from any animal feed store or from Wholesale Feeds in Marion, Iowa (319-377-5528), according to Dr. David Williams. The dosage of XPC that is equivalent to half a gram of EpiCor is about 3 grams. "I’m sure the company won’t like the comparisons I’m making, but the facts are there. And for several reasons they can’t recommend that humans use XPC. But it wasn’t EpiCor that bestowed all the end benefits on the employees at Diamond V Mills; it was the lesserconcentrated animal products. And those products have been used successfully on all types of animals for over 63 years without incident. Like it or not, we too are animals."

re Boron & Calcium: I would be careful not to take too much boron (I take 1mg/d from supplements) because it can increase estradiol, the bad estrogen. Also, I would be careful not to take extra calcium, as it tends to stimulate many forms of cancer; Dr. Blaylock says it's better to get your calcium from greens, along with adequate vitamin D3 and vitamin K2 so that the calcium gets deposited in our bones, not our soft tissues and arteries.
