Please distribute this to everyone you know. This is imminent (this year) and there is so much probability of this happening SOON that the government is preparing by buying millions of bullets, readying internment camps, training Russian and other foreign troops on our soil how to locate and arrest US citizens, and instructing our military, national guard, and cops regarding what is about to happen and what to do to us! FEMA has ordered 420 million survival meals. (If you don't believe this, with a little effort you can easily verify that it's true).
Instead of buying 2 Billion rounds of .40 caliber hollowpoints (which are illegal to use in wars), 2700 Tanks, and 7000 Machine Guns that DHS has recently purchased for domestic police and military use against U.S. citizens to kill us with (see article below:http://visiontoamerica.org/9528/obamas-government-preparing-for-massive-u-s-civil-war/ and more detail in http://www.beaconequity.com/we-are-preparing-for-massive-civil-war-says-dhs-informant-2012-05-03/), the government should be telling people via the TV, radio, newspapers, etc. what they can do to protect themselves when the dollar is destroyed, such as buying several months (a little at a time, if they cannot afford it) of dried (e.g., beans, rice, etc.) and canned food and dried food (beans, rice, split peas, etc.), jugs of distilled water, candles (be careful with paraffin -- it's very high in mercury) and lighters, emergency stove, kerosene lanterns, radio and batteries, solar or hand-crank charger for cell phone, etc. Rotate the food (put the date you bought them on them, if they don't already have dates, use the oldest food first, and replenish what you use regularly -- once a week. (This may be a good idea to do if you live in other countries, too).
The Beacon gives more detail in the link way down (I highlighted). Katadyn pocket water filters have gone up $30 (they are now $335.00 not including extra parts) in the last week on Amazon and everywhere else. I feel a tidal wave coming.

You might also, from time to time, purchase some old silver coins (dimes, quarters, etc.) to use for bartering food if paper money is greatly devalued quickly. Bullets, toilet paper, cigarettes and liquor are also things that are useful for bartering because many people need or want them during a crisis. ---
FEMA has ordered 420 million survival meals. Why would they need a 7000% increase of survival meals? Obama's Government: Preparing for Massive U.S. Civil War http://visiontoamerica.org/9528/obamas-government-preparing-for-massive-u-s-civil-war/ In a riveting interview on TruNews Radio, Wednesday, private investigator Doug Hagmann said high-level, reliable sources told him the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is preparing for "massive civil war" in America. "Folks, we're getting ready for one massive economic collapse," Hagmann told TruNews host Rick Wiles. "We have problems . . . The federal government is preparing for civil uprising," he added, "so every time you hear about troop movements, every time you hear about movements of military equipment, the militarization of the police, the buying of the ammunition, all of this is . . . they (DHS) are preparing for a massive uprising." Hagmann goes on to say that his sources tell him the concerns of the DHS stem from a collapse of the U.S. dollar and the hyperinflation a collapse in the value of the world's primary reserve currency implies to a nation of 311 million Americans, who, for the significant portion of the population, is armed. Through his sources, Hagmann confirmed Rickards' ongoing thesis of a fear of a U.S. dollar collapse at the hands of the Chinese (U.S. treasury bond holders of approximately $1 trillion) and, possibly, the Russians (threatening to launch a gold-backed ruble as an attractive alternative to the U.S. dollar) in retaliation for aggressive U.S. foreign policy initiatives against China's and Russia's strategic allies Iran and Syria. Larry provides hard evidence that the Obama administration is currently conspiring with Beijing to destroy our economy... http://content.eaglepub.com/?ldPiZnzFXfoHtQ-frxa-v2gdauhquSMRl That China's economic triumph is about to trigger the most catastrophic event in U.S. financial history ... And that nearly everything you think you know about our government, our economy and even investing is being turned on its head.
Trump Warns 'Massive Inflation' Coming, Prepare Monday, 05 Mar 2012 12:39 PM By Newsmax Wires Billionaire Donald Trump says the U.S. economy is poised for "massive inflation" and is warning investors to take steps now to protect themselves. In the gripping CNBC interview, Trump also told investors they should not trust official government statistics. He even questioned the "official unemployment" numbers. "It's over 20 percent. It's not 8.3 percent," Trump said. Trump also thinks skyrocketing oil prices will cripple the U.S. economy. "Right now, [oil] is at an all-time record for this time of the year, in the summer they predict $5 gasoline, maybe $6." But Trump isn't the only expert warning the U.S. economy may go off the cliff. Robert Wiedemer, author of the New York Times best-selling book Aftershock, stated in a recent interview, "The data is clear, 50% unemployment, a 90% stock market drop, and 100% annual inflation . . . starting in 2012." Editor's Note: See the disturbing interview with Wiedemer http://w3.newsmax.com/a/aftershockb/video47.cfm?promo_code=E67B-1 When the host questioned such wild claims, Wiedemer unapologetically displayed shocking charts backing up his allegations, and then ended his argument with, "You see, the medicine will become the poison."
"Gone are the days when candles were made from natural products. Today, paraffin is the ingredient of choice. Sounds innocent enough, but paraffin is actually the sludge found at the bottom of barrels of crude oil. The oil by-product is then bleached and treated with benzene and other chemicals to make it usable for candles. Even the American Lung Association warns that paraffin candles release lead and mercury into the air. One study from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) found that toxic emissions from paraffin candles exceed their own recommendations." -- Dr. Al Sears, 5-2012 Newsletter
[Note: soy is GMO unless otherwise stated; some vendors do have organic, but I prefer 100% pure (not blended with other waxes) organic Beeswax or pure organic Carnauba Palm wax candles with an all cotton wick (no lead or zinc core), so you will be certain you are burning a candle that's safe, non toxic, and environmentally friendly.]
http://candleandsoap.about.com/od/wicksandwaxes/f/Is-There-Still-Lead-In-Cored-Candle-Wicks.htm Question: Is there Still Lead in Cored Candle Wicks? Answer: "Cored" candle wicks have a rigid core in them that keeps the wick standing straight up even in a melted container of wax. Candle wicks used to have lead cores. But studies revealed that lead in the candle wicks was being released into the air in the candle smoke. So, the National Candle Association worked with its member manufacturers to voluntarily discontinue using lead wicks as early as the mid-1970s, and in 2000, asked all U.S. candle manufacturers to join its members in signing a formal pledge not to use lead wicks. Lead wicks were officially banned from the U.S marketplace in 2003, and were voluntarily pulled from the market even before that. Nowadays, the cores are made of zinc, paper, tin or cotton, with cotton fibers woven around them. Scientific studies have repeatedly shown both zinc-core and tin-core wicks to be safe and non-toxic. While pretty improbable, it's still possible that cheap candles made overseas may contain lead in the wicks. All the more reason to make your own candles using wicks from reputable candle making suppliers - or at least buy your candles from a reliable vendor. Don't be afraid to ask the salesperson or vendor if they know for certain that their candles' wicks contain no lead.
Tip #1: Avoid chemical additives Be sure to read the label on the candle packaging. Some candles may contain chemical additives that may be released into the air and inhaled when they are burned.
Tip #2: Make sure the wick doesn't contain lead Some candles may have wicks with a metallic core that contains lead. When the wicks burn, lead vapors and dust may be released into the air, which can be harmful.
The most reliable way of finding out is to ask the retailer or manufacturer. Some people suggest removing wax from the tip of the wick, separating the fibers from the wick to check if it has a metallic core and then rubbing the metallic core on a white piece of paper. If it leaves a gray mark on paper, it may contain lead.
Candles with lead-core candle wicks have been banned by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) since 2003. They are also banned in Australia. In Canada, however, they are currently still for sale. It's estimated that approximately 10% of candles there contain lead, most of them manufactured in either China or Taiwan.
Tip #3: Look for candles made with vegetable wax Proponents of natural candles suggest using candles made with vegetable wax rather than paraffin, which is a petroleum-based byproduct of refined gasoline. Vegetable wax is thought to burn longer, cleaner and more evenly than paraffin and not give off an oily soot:
Beeswax candles - these candles were once the norm before they were replaced by tallow and paraffin. Look for beeswax candles that haven't been dyed and are their natural honey color. Again, remember to read the label. A product only has to contain 51% beeswax to be labeled a beeswax candle, even if the rest is paraffin.
Beeswax candles are more expensive but they often burn longer. You can also consider making your own. Craft stores and natural health foods stores often carry sheets of beeswax.
Soy candles - These candles are made from soybean oil, a type of vegetable oil. [Soy is GMO unless otherwise stated.] ---
Welcome to Candle Bee Farm - Makers of Handcrafted Beeswax Candles 100% Beeswax, No Additives, Pure and Clean, Hypo-allergenic All Cotton Wick Handcrafted by Real Beekeepers http://www.candlebeefarm.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1&Itemid=3 Buyer Bee-ware: Questions to ask your Beeswax Candle Maker Is the product 100% Beeswax? Candle Bee Farm™ candles are 100% Beeswax with no additives. Many companies put additives or hardeners into the wax to make it set up faster and have a smoother finish. Most also coat their molds with a toxic mold release or spray. Candle Bee™ artisans pour at exact temperatures and wait a full 4 hours for natural wax set up. The long cooling allows time for shrinkage so the candles may be easily removed from the molds. The molds are properly seasoned by use and require no artificial release sprays. Where do you get the Beeswax? This is very important. Beeswax can be imported at a low price. Imported bee products are banned in many countries (but not the U.S.A.) due to the presence of toxic chemicals. These chemicals are used in beehives to ward off pests and disease and are unregulated in many places. Toxic chemical use is even allowed by some states in the U.S.A. withwarning labels for 'proper' use. Candle Bee Farm™ only uses beeswax generated here on the farm and from select domestic sources for candle making. Toxic chemicals should not be burned and inhaled. Therefore, we are very careful not to use imported or questionable wax. We also utilize solar melt methods that release any possible residuals before filtering and candle pouring begins. Ah, the warm, healing energy of the sun! Solar melting the wax vaporizes impurities leaving a pure, clean product. Most companies use steam melt machines in which possible residual chemicals can fail to be released and remain in the wax.
Note: I personally buy my candles from Candle Bee Farm because of their excellent customer service and high quality.

Free disaster preparedness info --
from Arthur Bradley's Amazon Blog, April 27, 2008, updated at , November 5, 2008
As many of you may know, I am in the process of writing a "how-to" handbook on disaster preparedness. The book is finally coming along! I've completed many of the chapters, including water, shelter, food, protection, and more. The idea is to write a well-researched book that offers practical advice on how to prepare for emergencies and disasters. I've read nearly every book out there on disaster preparedness, and I'm combining all the best advice, along with my own experiences to give the reader what I hope is a handbook of useful information.
I have created a website that offers practical advice on how to go about preparing - some of this comes from the intro of my upcoming book. A high-quality auto kit (and a detailed packing list) is also offered on this site - use the list to build your own if you like. If interested, check out www.disasterpreparer.com. The site will eventually get lots more info, so check back often: www.disasterpreparer.com
Survival in a bucket?
, September 16, 2007, updated at , April 27, 2008
I am in the process of writing a handbook on disaster preparedness (DP). I've posted a useful list of items to keep in your automobile in a previous post - see below. In this post, I'd like to briefly take a look at the effectiveness of prepackaged DP kits (usually sold in a 5 gallon bucket). If you read their websites, you might come to believe that getting prepared is simply about forking out $99 and finding a shelf on which to store the bucket of goodies.
Let's take a look at one such disaster preparedness kit meant for a family of four.
12 Energy bars
12 Water boxes (8 ounces each)
4 Space blankets
1 Pair work gloves
4 Thin plastic ponchos
4 Small packs of tissues
1 Tube tent
4 Lightweight dust masks
50 Water purification tablets
1 Pair disposable medical gloves
1 Solar radio with flashlight
1 Small first aid kit (bandaids, gauze, tweezers, antibiotic cream)
1 GI-style can opener
50 feet of nylon cord
Small Swiss Army knife
50 Waterproof matches
5 Emergency candles (5 hours each)
12 Plastic bags
Package of toilet chemicals
Roll of duct tape
5 Gallon bucket with optional toilet seat
Seems like quite a list! But let's put ourselves in a disaster and see how well we hold up.
Let's assume that you live on the East Coast (which I do), and a hurricane blows through (which it did shortly after I moved here). Thousands of power poles are taken down, leaving you without electricity for 3 weeks. Gasoline is in very short supply. Supermarkets are unable to stock up. And local water reserves are contaminated due to flooding. The temperature is about 80 degrees during the day and 50 degrees at night. There are bouts of very heavy rainfall. Worst of all, large tree has fallen through the roof of your house. To top things off, there are some scattered reports of looting.
Let's test this kit against our fundamental needs:
Food - The energy bars will keep you alive a couple days longer than if we had nothing at all, but they certainly won't help the morale of your hungry family used to eating "normal" food. The GI style can opener will open any canned food we have on hand, but it is slow, difficult to use, easy to lose, and won't hold up for long.
Water - The purified water will only last your family of four about 6 hours (assuming 1 gal/person/day). After that, you will have to boil the contaminated city water in the hopes that whatever contaminants have gotten into the supply can be nullified.
Shelter--There are no tarps or tools to patch the hole in your roof, so your shelter is slowly being destroyed by the deluge of rain.
Light--The kit's single solar radio/flashlight would be inadequate for a family of four to function in darkness. The five emergency candles would likely only last a single evening. After that, your family would be forced to hunker down as soon as night arrives.
Heating/Cooling--The temperatures are mild enough that you can survive without heating or cooling, although daytime temperatures will make it uncomfortable and increase your need for drinking water. Evening temperatures are likely to be chilly, and you can only hope that we already have adequate blankets on hand to keep everyone warm. Note that space blankets are unsuitable for anything but short term wilderness survival as they are typically small, easily torn, hard to stay wrapped up in, and of questionable benefit over a simple tarp.
Air--There are no dangers to your air supply.
Sleep--Sleeping in our home is still possible for a while, but conditions will quickly become unhealthy because of sanitation issues.
Medicine/First Aid--The first aid supplies in the kit are completely inadequate for anything beyond a scraped knee. If anyone in our family becomes injured or ill (both very possible), we will be in a very serious situation.
Communication--There is nothing in the kit to help contact family or friends, no evacuation plan, no pet supplies, no games or activities to keep children entertained, and no information about emergency services.
Financial Security--The kit does nothing to help your financial security. In particular, there are no home inventory sheets to help itemize your property damage.
Hygiene--The few packages of tissues and the potty bucket are inadequate for your family's personal hygiene. Without an ample supply of water, your family faces risk of disease from inadequate sanitation. The inability to maintain an accepted level of cleanliness will also quickly drive morale down.
Transportation--The kit does not help with transportation issues. You would have no spare gasoline or alternate means of transportation.
Protection--The kit offers nothing in terms of personal protection (save for a small pocket knife). Should looters mistakenly invade your home thinking it empty, you will be at their mercy.
The bottom line is that the "bucket survival kit" would fall far short of meeting your post-hurricane needs. Try running the kit against other scenarios (e.g. winter storm, terrorist strike, widespread blackout, etc.). I think you'll find that it does little to improve your chances of survival.
My criticism however isn't directed against any company offering such kits. Having a bucket of supplies is better than having nothing at all. And so in one sense I salute them for identifying a very real need. It is however my strong recommendation that you take a much more practical approach to disaster preparedness.
I've had an interest in disaster preparedness for many years, and have recently started on a comprehensive "how to" book. Several friends have asked for a list of items to keep in their vehicle. Let me know if you see anything missing.
Most Important Items:
- A heavyweight canvas bag with shoulder straps (IDF tactical duffel is great)
- Warm blanket--1 for each person
- LED flashlight with fresh batteries (Surefire makes great flashlights)
- Bottled water - a few bottles per person
- GPS unit and/or maps of area
- Jumper cables or Jumpstarter (Jump-n-carry 660 is good)
- Empty gas can (1-2 gal)
- Small tool kit, include a roll of 3M all-weather Duct tape
- First aid kit (include sterile gloves, bandages, CPR shield, scissors, SAM splint, ACE bandages, pain killer, etc.)
- Cell phone with car charger
- Jack, tire iron, spare tire
- Leather gloves
- A comfortable pair of walking shoes (broken in)
- Can of Fix-a-flat
- Lifehammer or Res-Q-Me - within reach
- Tub of wet wipes
- Tow rope
- Pen and notepad (Rite in the Rain are good for outdoor use)
- Fixed blade knife (Benchmade, Gerber, Ka-Bar, Al Mar, Cold Steel, others)
- Triangle reflectors or flares (Defusco reflectors are heavy duty)
- Small fire extinguisher (A-B-C types will handle wood, oil/gas, and electrical fires)
- A few 12 hour cyalume "chemlights" with neck straps
- A little cash, calling card, list of phone numbers
- A flash drive with copies of important papers, photos, passports, etc. (write me for a complete list of things to include)
In cold weather, consider adding:
- Spare clothing
- Ice scraper w/brush (get something that is heavy duty)
- Folding shovel (Gerber NATO shovel is good)
- Kitty litter
- Emergency candles in can (Nuwick 120 hour candles are good)
- Waterproof matches or grille lighter with firestarter (TinderQuik is good)
- Tire chains (as appropriate)
Additional Helpful Items:
- Poncho or raincoat
- Gallon Ziploc bags (for going potty in)
- Small board for placing a jack on in soft ground
- Parachute cord
- Energy bars - a couple bars per person
- Quart of oil and funnel
- Disposable camera (for accident photos)
- Aerial signal flares
- Nuke Alert (radiation monitor keychain)
- Position Locator Beacon (ACR ResQFix or similar)
- Gas mask
A quick word about disaster preparation... Before you head to the store to "stock up," sit down and give some thought as to what you're preparing against. In the case of an auto kit, you would quickly come up with a list of things like: getting lost, running out of gas, having a flat tire, dead battery, or other auto trouble, becoming stranded in bad weather, having your engine catch fire, getting stuck in a prolonged traffic jam, being trapped by the seat belt in an accident, etc. Once you identify the dangers, you can better prepare yourself. Plus, you won't have a bunch of junk filling your trunk with no idea why it's there.
The "Most Important Items" that I pulled together are meant to meet many of the most common roadside disasters. The "Additional Items" could be added when taking long trips or in cases where risk seems higher.
After much interest, I have decided to offer an auto disaster preparedness kit based around my list. If interested (even if just for ideas to put your own together), see www.disasterpreparer.com.
Another item I would recommend is a good book to read. If you're stuck in traffic or stranded on the side of the road waiting for help to arrive, a book can help pass the time. Be kind enough to consider my novel "Process of Elimination." Enjoy!

Good judgment does not always accompany a good education or impressive professional experience.Where we Americans go badly wrong is trusting authority under the aura of education and pseudo professionalism. There are many fools under these mantras.
There is really no substitute for taking personal responsibility in every area of our lives, including finance, health and religion. Keep following a leader and you will eventually be in a ditch more like a human grave. We sit on an economic powder keg. Authorities would have us to believe that the system will recover and prosper. There is no system. It is a patched-up paper money monster that has nothing left but confidence. When that falters, she blows!
The truth is we have eaten our seed corn! Not only that, we have borrowed from our future. Americans have been sold completely on the idea that lowering interest rates is the ticket to eternal material prosperity.
Consequently, the American consumer has already borrowed from next year's consumption.
All speculative manias in history have led to financial excesses, overproduction capacities and huge debt. This has led to a vicious downturn and financial busts which in turn has led to recessions or depressions. The very salient point is that none of the financial establishment or public gurus saw the collapse coming now or in the past.
The economic situation in the U.S. today is far more dangerous and complex than ever before. We are indeed faced with a fundamentally totally different set of economic, financial, and now, geopolitical conditions than ever before in our economic history.
Inflation eventually creates deflation, as so well demonstrated in Japan. Ironically, deflation gives paper money more purchasing power, something governments never intend.
Inflation is an increase in the volume of money and credit relative to available goods. Deflation is a contraction in the volume of money relative to available goods. Simply put, deflation develops as a result of excessive debt built up during boom times. Almost no one expects deflation before it starts.
And almost no one knows why deflation comes like a bolt out of the blue.
Here is the reason. The social mood reverses from euphoria to loss of confidence periodically. Why does the social mood reverse ever so often? The answer is because inflated economic activity and confidence burns out and reverses. Loss of confidence causes a collapse of credit which leads to substantial involuntary debt liquidation and many bankruptcies. If debt liquidation gets out of hand, the money stock collapses faster than it can be created as now.
The key to the next few years is to preserve your assets/savings and diversify. This means unequivocally to spread your assets. Do not put all your eggs in one basket.
A cash reserve in your possession is not all bad in case the printing presses fail to inflate as they intend to do. You can always change cash to gold coins.
Needless to say, debt is a bad thing in deflation. In fact, it's a disaster. Try to get rid of your debt now or as much as you can. This includes real estate debt.
When prices collapse as in the current Japanese deflation, cash and savings is king because as prices go down, cash becomes worth more and more.
• Buy gold coins, especially one-ounce bullion coins, American Eagles. Buy some "junk silver" _U.S. 90% silver coins minted through 1964.
• Buy Swiss francs in the form of a Swiss annuity.
• Stash cash in U.S. dollars as long as we experience deflation or the threat of deflation.
• Do not buy or hold stocks except some select quality gold stocks, i.e., Newmont, Royal Gold, Goldcorp, Agnico Eagle, Glamis Gold, Goldfields, Randgold, and/or Tocqueville Gold Fund.
Buy now and hold for the big advance coming soon. The top could be three to four years out. Then we will sell and buy the New York Stock Market again which will eventually arrive at rock bottom with historical values. Please remember that at that point, the world economy will look like a black hole and you will be scared to death.
In the meantime, the gold market will not go straight up. There will be corrections or shakeouts.
Hold and build your position. ---
Blake Sawyer Many PDF Ebooks with information to help you decide if you would like to move to Chile, Ecuador, Uruguay, along with what life is like there, etc. if you subscribe at: http://www.escapetheusanow.com/blog/
Survival expert and health guru, Blake Sawyer, says that the United States will no longer be a viable place to live, and people should consider immigrating to locations in the less populated Southern Hemisphere. Whether through war, disease, famine, natural disasters, or ruthless government, he predicted that 95% of those who remain in the US will be dead in the next 5-15 years. America has been targeted by the "globalists" to be taken out, he added.
Sawyer noted that the United States ranks highest in violent crime, and that countries in the Southern Hemisphere are much more tranquil. In particular, he highlighted nations in the southern region of South America as being good choices for survivability, specifically Chile, Uruguay, and Ecuador. "I...believe that the average American does not know that they're the frog in cold water, and they think they're OK, and they're now boiling," he declared. Years ago, he and his family emigrated to Chile, where he says that freedom and lack of government interference in your personal life is like it was in the U.S. in the 1950's. ---
Some friends and I spent most of the weekend touring the future site of our resilient community in central Chile, just a few hours' drive south of Santiago on a very modern highway.
As I've mentioned before, the site sprawls across roughly 1,000 acres in a gorgeous setting; a healthy chunk of the property is already planted as a working (and profitable) farm, and it was exciting to see so much in bloom over a beautiful, sunny summer weekend.
Ask yourself, do you want to be an expat or a refugee?
There are increasing numbers of Americans who are not only emigrating to other countries, but are renouncing their American citizenship as well. This trend has not been widely reported, but the coverage by mainstream publications such as the NY Times and Time Magazine of this growing practice indicates that this is not merely a passing phase. However, the major media has diverted attention on the economic rather than the political reasons for people fleeing the US.
It has now become common knowledge that the Federal Reserve Bank is not a part of the US government and is in fact controlled by a handful of banking families who have been at the helm of the US economy for several generations.
This was successfully kept from the attention of Americans by the corporate controlled media and only recently has come to light due to the efforts of Rep. Ron Paul and the late Arron Russo's film, "America, From Freedom to Facsism". (http://aftfmovie.com/)
Previously, those who attempted to bring this issue to light were dismissed as "fringe groups" or "anti-government whackos". Now that the world has become aware of this fraud of near Biblical proportions, it is the opinion of many that it is now only a matter of time before countries like China pull the plug of financial support through the purchase of US bonds and treasury notes. When that happens, the domino effect will be world wide and the epicenter of this economic tsunami will of course be the US.
Many trend forecasters such as Gerald Celente, Jim Rogers and Max Kaiser have been predicting the inevitability of economic collapse and revolution for years and as such have been dismissed just as those who screamed "FED fraud" for decades.
The absence of any political reference as being the fuel for the fires of expatriation is akin to the saying, "The silence is deafening". Economics and politics are inescapably tied to one another, so to place the blame of an increase of expatriation exclusively on economics and ignoring the political scene should be seen as suspicious at least.
Not so long ago the United States was the most admired and respected country in the world, and held this status for years. Perceived by many as a protective "big brother", numerous governments welcomed US companies with open arms in the hope of being able to ride on their economic coat tails. The political price for doing so was not recognized until years later, and is now seen for what it is and what it was meant to be -- a trap from which there is no escape!
Economic influence and control leads inevitably to political influence and control. This is not an opinion. It is a fact, and can be clearly seen and understood by anyone who takes the time to check historical records. The dilemma that has arisen by the advent of multi-national and international corporate control over national economies is that these corporations have no allegiance to any one country.
Corporations are almost like a new man made life form that has no concern for peace, progress, prosperity or people. Corporations feed only on profit and anything that is not profitable is seen as a liability and is eliminated as "waste".
This is a moral issue that manifested in the past several decades as these corporations saturated many western economies. Many of the participating countries have been transformed into economic, corporate "junkies" whose labor forces now cannot survive without absolute reliance and compliance with corporate policy and control.
Ask yourself -- could this "corporate Borg" be the "Great Satan" that many middle eastern nations refer to when they refer to countries like the US or the UK? After all, it is now recognized world-wide that the military industrial complex is driven by the same corporations that have spent untold billions to lobby and influence governments to do their bidding. Indeed, many people are recognizing that their tax dollars are being used to pay for war efforts that feed the corporate beast and fuel hostilities to the hosting countries, but this is secondary to the concern of basic survival of unimaginable hardships to follow.
Because most, if not all of these corporations are all tied to the Federal Reserve, it is not rocket science to figure out that when (not if) the FED and the US dollar fails, the corporations will follow suit (hence the "too big to fail" philosophy).
Many ex-pats foresaw the likelihood and inevitability of this scenario and factored this into their decision to find a place where survivability will be easier than remaining in a country that could become "ground zero".
If the above stated facts are understood by those who are considering emigrating to another country, it would be wise to consider countries whose reliance on western food supplies commodities and economics are minimal. As the prospective ex-pat begins to take on board these hard to accept concepts and undeniable facts, it is less difficult to understand the prospect that waiting until the first domino falls will determine one's status as a refugee rather than an ex-pat.
Surely it's better to be a year too early than a day too late. For those of you considering the possibility of leaving your country, you may want to research and consider issues other than simply trying to reduce your tax burdens.
If history repeats itself as it often does, and a Weimer Republic scenario is in the cards for the US and all other countries joined at the hip to its doomed economy, it should be a matter of survival rather than an economic hardship that provides impetus and motivation to escape from America before it is too late.
Ask yourself, do you want to be an expat or a refugee? ---
On the tenth anniversary of the 9-11 attacks on the USA, which caused the deaths and injuries of thousands of innocent people, many people spent the day reflecting and remembering the loss of life, and on what has happened to America since that fateful day. -- Susan Beverley
The deaths and injuries were, in themselves, an appalling tragedy but an ongoing serious consequence of the attacks has been, and still is, the gradual erosion of civil rights and privacy of US citizens.
My time of reflection on September 11 was spent in the delightful company of Dave vonKleist, an American patriot, who for many years was on the frontline of the battle to keep America free from government tyranny and to protect the civil rights and freedom of the American people.
Using humor and the politically incorrect music that he wrote, performed and recorded, Dave vonKleist entertained and informed listeners with his unique style of broadcasting on a radio show, The Power Hour which he co-hosted with Joyce Riley.
Dave vonKleist is also well known for the production of two video documentaries, "911 In Plane Site" and "911 Ripple Effect".
These documentaries were an examination, by experts, of the video evidence of the attacks on the twin towers and the pentagon and posed questions that could not be answered with any credibility.
To this day, Dave vonKleist is still on the receiving end of a mix of warm accolades and vicious attacks for daring to raise questions that needed to be asked.
Now living in Argentina, Dave vonKleist is a world away from the life when he relentlessly spent his days working towards increasing the American people's awareness of the corruption and tyranny that are slowly eating away at their rights and freedoms.
Relaxed and happy, Dave vonKleist agreed to a "no questions barred" interview.
Among other things I asked him to explain his reasons for leaving America to become an expatriate; for the truth behind his departure from The Power Hour; I wanted to know his reasons for choosing Argentina as his adopted home; and to give a response to, and comment on, the personal attacks and financial losses he has endured.
Susan Beverley: I am sorry to start off with this question, but there is a small part of our audience that will want to know this: Do you hate America?
Dave vonKleist: Maybe that part of the audience is not so small, because that question is raised frequently. I fought for many years and tried to contribute to the effort to bring the USA to what it once was and to bring attention to the problems our government and country was experiencing.
This resulted in small minded individuals coming to the conclusion that I must somehow hated my country, when in fact it is my love for my country that motivated me to draw attention to its weakness in the hopes that we could correct the direction it was taking.
For many of us who became vocal activists, we had to endure the same negative assumptions that we endure now as expats. If those who had been active participants in the rumor mongering and ridicule game had directed their efforts in to effecting the real change, it is likely people such as myself would not have felt the need to become expats.
If someone truly loves their country, then it is their duty to do all they can to correct problems as they develop, rather than condemn those with the courage to do so. Sadly, the majority of the American "sheeple" fail to understand this essential philosophy, which is why things have gotten so bad and folks like myself are pegged as "hating their country".
Those who parrot and subscribe to the phrase, "America, love it or leave it" are a major reason why things have gotten so bad.
To answer your question, I do not hate America -- I hate what America has become. The corruption and the deprivation of our civil rights have destroyed my personal American dream.
Susan Beverley: When a super patriot becomes an expatriate it suggests to me that this is time for all Americans to seriously consider relocating overseas. What were the circumstances that led you to make the decision to leave America?
Dave vonKleist: Leaving my country was not an easy decision. Having thrown my heart and soul into the resistance movement for the past twenty years and rubbing elbows with some the most dedicated, honest patriotic people that I have the pleasure of knowing, I came to the sad realization that the majority of Americans have become to depend on the efforts of a few, when what is truly required is the efforts of many.
I sometimes had the impression that by being a radio talk show host and discussing topics that were either shunned or ignored by the main stream media, that we were somehow filling a need for the globalists by giving our listenership a place to vent.
It is easy to believe that something can get done when sitting at home listening to a short wave radio or computer or live stream where people discuss these topics and have the mistaken impression that by simply listening we can win this thing.
Complacency, apathy and fear all play a vital role for the powers that be. It is a well known fact that the attention span for most people is 2 to 3 weeks. For many Americans, whatever the issue or topic is that makes their blood boil, after a few weeks they "cool off" and then it's business as usual.
Until the majority of Americans realize that it's time to break out the tar and feathers, the pitchforks and torches and storm the castle then nothing will be accomplished.
Susan Beverley: You spent many years as an activist trying to raise the American people's awareness of government corruption and their attacks on the constitution. Now you are an expat have you totally withdrawn from such activism and if so why?
Dave vonKleist: Early on in my activist role I was told by many to beware of burnout. At the time I didn't quite realize what that meant.
However as the years passed and my pace was maintained I began to understand how important it is to take the time to try and enjoy some things in life rather than constantly carrying the burden of a black cloud.
I became somewhat disenchanted as I found that some of the "patriots" in the movement were more concerned with their personal status, pride maintenance and nourishing their ego.
Regular listeners to my program will attest to the fact that for many years my mantra was: "If you're in it for the praise, recognition, accolades or money, you're in it for the wrong reason. What part of divided we fall don't you understand? What part of united we stand don't you get?"
We as patriots should not see others in the movement as competitors, but rather as teammates. We don't have to agree on all topics or issues. Patriots need to see the common enemies and issues and work towards overcoming hem them. Then they can all get back to the infighting, backstabbing and gossip, (if that's what they think they need to do.)
The infighting and rumor mongering became commonplace in the patriot movement. The issue for some appeared to become that of "exposing others" and it saddened my heart to find that so many well meaning patriots had egos so fragile that they could no longer focus on their issue and rather redirected their efforts towards personal attacks and defending against them.
What a great way to neutralize someone who is successfully affecting a change! Put them on the defensive to the point that they can no longer effectively move forward! I for one could care less of what people say about me.
With all the crazy attacks and accusations I was subjected to, I very rarely responded. And the idiots who believed that tripe are no more worthy of my time than those spewing it.
Sadly, given the disharmony and lack of unity in the "patriot" movement I came to realize that my words spoken in 1995 were truer than I wanted them to be: "Either we all fight them together or we all sit back and wait for them to collapse under the weight of their own corruption".
The way I see it, I paid it forward enough for a couple of lifetimes. My priority now is to enjoy what time I have left on this earth, to 'live, laugh, love and sing about it'.
I have not completely withdrawn but am on hiatus to give myself time to heal from the personal, emotional and financial losses suffered at the hands of other so called "patriots".
Susan Beverley: I would like to ask you about the Power Hour that you co-hosted with Joyce Riley. This was, and still is an immensely popular radio show. So why did you quit?
Dave vonKleist: Quit? That idea has been publicized but is quite untrue. You can figure out the opposite of "quit". I suppose all things run their course and the Power Hour had a good run. Joyce and I had a difference of philosophy and the direction the show had taken and she made a "business decision".
My only regret is the way I was terminated and that I was not afforded the opportunity to thank the listeners for their support for all those years and to say goodbye... at least for the time being.
There are still unresolved issues on this topic and so I will leave out the finer details ... for now. It is said "when poverty comes in the door love goes out the window". Sometimes a success can have the same effect.
The problem is when the success or financial rewards overshadow the very reason you began your endeavor in the first place, you end up corrupting your own values for the sake of more "stuff".
Susan Beverley: You had thousands of followers who were inspired by your motivational broadcasts and unique delivery; do you feel you are letting them down by no longer being on the air?
Dave vonKleist: I remember listening to the "For the People" broadcast with Chuck Harder when I lived in Connecticut. When the station that carried his broadcast changed its programming I felt the loss. I can understand how many listeners may have felt when I was no longer on the radio. I am truly sorry for any loss they may have felt or still feel, but again the circumstance was not under my control.
Susan Beverley: You worked for many years supporting Gulf War Veterans providing free information packages and DVD's. Are you still involved in any way in providing ongoing support to vets?
Dave vonKleist: Joyce Riley and I came together in the mid 90's because of our common concern for our men and women who had served in the military. The Power Hour began in the year 2000 and at first maintained a focus on Veteran issues and became a clearing house for free information for those who simply asked.
Over the years we gave away several hundred thousand dollars in videos, documents, printed materials, clothing, basic necessities and in some cases cash to Vets who had reached a point of desperation.
I believe it is because of our efforts to help Vets the Power Hour became the success that it was. As the radio show became more popular, our topics became more diverse and it appeared to me that we might have lost sight of the very reason that we became involved in the first place.
I would challenge anyone to visit the Power Hour archives or guest schedule today and find how many shows per month are dedicated towards the Vets. I had no say in the scheduling of guests on the program. The direction it took was a result of Joyce Riley being at the helm. My support for Vets remains un-wavering; it is my resources that are no longer available. Vets can still contact the Power Hour and ask for help.
Susan Beverley: Your two video documentaries, 911 In Plane Site and 911 The Ripple Effect opened many people's eyes to the possibility that the attack on the WTC and the Pentagon were not simply terrorist attacks and raised many questions that to this day are still unanswered. What motivated you to go ahead and produce these videos?
Dave vonKleist: On that horrible day we were preparing to go on air with our live broadcast. As we fired up the equipment and turned on our TV monitor I saw the north tower smoking, as it had been hit at 8:46 AM (EST) -- just minutes before our live broadcast.
When our microphones went live at 9 AM, the first thing I said to the listeners was, "Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, run, don't walk to your VCR, put in a tape and start recording any network you can find". Many of our listeners did just that and 3 minutes later the south tower was hit.
After several months of America suffering a 911 hangover, video tapes began arriving by mail.
Listeners across the country were sending me copies of what they had recorded and I ended up with between 65 and 70 video tapes of raw, unedited live broadcasts. At first I didn't know what to do with them but when the controversy about the Pentagon began to build I began reviewing the video tapes.
What I found in regard to the pentagon led me to review the footage of the events in New York City. Shocked does not describe my reaction. I realized that Fox has Fox footage; CNN has CNN footage and NBC, ABC, CBS and all the others all have their OWN footage.
Here I am in the middle of nowhere Missouri with a box of video tapes with ALL the footage! The way I saw it, I had no choice but to try and share what I had seen with our listeners.
911 In Plane Site was released in July 2004. Admittedly, I was surprised at the level of attention it received. I was invited as a guest on many radio shows.
When the US government released the "more complete" security camera video footage from the Pentagon in '05, I was asked to be a guest on the Glen Beck show (when he was still with CNN).
I knew right away that this would be an attempt to discredit and ridicule myself and others who dared question the "official story".
Despite his efforts, Glen Beck actually drew more attention to the questions I was raising simply by ignoring video footage and photographs and relying on the age old methodology of attacking the messenger because you don't like the message.
Popular Mechanics was forced into doing a damage control article and addressing issues that obviously had been avoided by the main stream media. The article was a collection of "massaged information" and total avoidance.
James Miges was invited numerous times to appear on the radio show (either live or recorded) and simply refused. I wrote a response piece and also addressed the propagenda in a segment of "911 Ripple Effect".
The controversy continued to build and the hits just kept on coming. The ripple effect following the release of 911 In Plane Site led to the production of the second film, "911 Ripple Effect".
Many have stated that the second film is like the first only on steroids. The ridicule and attacks seemed to subside somewhat after the release of the second film. The questions raised, coupled with the mainstream media and government reaction over the release of the first film lent credibility to the second.
I still get letters, emails and Facebook messages from people all over the world who thank me for opening their eyes and I am humbled by it. It is I who should thank them.
Susan Beverley: Following the release of the first and then the second 911 videos you were on the receiving end of some brutal criticism from those who labeled you as a conspiracy theorist whacko and a Nazi disinformer among other things. What is your response to these critics?
Dave vonKleist: As they say you don't catch flak unless you are over the target. I still challenge anyone who calls me a conspiracy theorist to tell me what 'theory' I am promoting.
I was and remain very careful about making any definitive statements in regard to the 911 attacks and this infuriates many of those who want to somehow negate the validity of the questions raised. And they are just that, questions raised. (Questions that many not only do not want answered, but don't want asked).
As far as the "Nazi disinfo" label please consider the source [davevonkleistdisinformer.com] - a defrocked, disbarred "attorney" who called herself a 'good Christian', claims she wants to expose the "truth" and yet has no documentation, evidence or proof to substantiate her outrageous charges.
Sometimes it's wise to examine the accusatory finger rather than the direction to where it is pointing. Anyone with functioning brain matter who reads through the website would likely find it akin to Jack Nicholson's rambling writings in "The Shining".
Again, I won't even waste my time responding to questions raised by idiots who get their information from websites of that caliber.
In my public appearances and radio broadcasts I have stated many times, if you have proof or evidence that I am a CIA agent, Mossad agent, a Neo-Nazi skinhead, or anything else, please expose me for the fraud you say that I am but please do so with credible evidentiary facts. Not by innuendo gossip rumor mongering or demonstration of an over active imagination.
Susan Beverley: The 911 videos sold tens of thousands of copies, therefore it is reasonable to assume you have a very comfortable retirement fund on which you can live in style in Argentina. Is that the case?
Dave vonKleist: There are some who think I left the US with a bag of money from the video sales. The fact of the matter is that William Lewis, co-producer of "911 Ripple Effect", slapped a lawsuit on me in a dispute over "gross profit" vs. "net profit" a month after the DVD was released.
The issue was over $2.42 per minute of advertising and promotion on the radio and travel expenses to Wisconsin to promote the video's release (just over a few hundred dollars).
After hiring an attorney to respond to his lawsuit, his attorney (I assume at William's instructions) foot-dragged and delayed responding. I was prevented from duplicating, distributing or selling the video until I could obtain sales receipts, which Joyce was unwilling to provide.
The result was that I have not received a single penny from the video and to date, I am not involved in any duplication or sales. Those who want to know more can ask William Lewis why he handled it so "fairly".
It is a little difficult to accept being so thoroughly screwed over by other "patriots" who claim they love their country more than money. Deeds not words. Let that be the barometer to judge other's motivations.
Susan Beverley: You are equally well known for your patriotic and frankly politically incorrect music and have written and recorded 3 albums. Can we expect to hear any new musical offerings from you in the future?
Dave vonKleist: I am flattered that so many people expressed their appreciation for my music and sometimes humorous musical antics. Music is in my blood and always will be. I still involve myself with politically incorrect musical projects but not to the extent of the past 15 years.
Sales of my albums were mediocre only because the numbers of people involved in the resistance movement have been mediocre. I hate to admit it, but despite the fact that more Americans have awakened in the past few years most have not moved to the second stage which is direct involvement.
I have been a musician for 40 years now and had quite a successful run during the 70's and 80's as a singer, guitar player and studio vocalist. I have moved back to my roots as of late only because it is what I did for so long and quite frankly I don't suck at it.
No matter what happens in the coming years, people will always want music to express their love, joy and sometimes heartbreaks of life. Most people would rather listen to their favorite album of familiar songs than to some patriotic politically incorrect, in- your-face-you-lying-SOB-government musician giving a lyrical lambasting to the powers that be.
Let's face it wouldn't you rather listen to your favorite love song than to some guy shaking a musical fist in the faces of the globalists and vowing an eternal fight for the coming generations?
Susan Beverley: I have to ask the obvious -- why did you choose Argentina as your new country of residence?
Dave vonKleist: The world economy is on the brink of collapse. The US military industrial complex has a stranglehold on the economy of our country and the world. When our country's economic survival depends upon feeding a machine that kills for profit with total disregard for human life or the survival of the planet it should be clear that global military conflict is inevitable.
When I first considered leaving the country I asked myself the question that many others ask themselves -- where in the world is it safe? The question should be -- where is it safer than where I am?
No place is truly safe when facing the specter of a third world war and if or when it comes, it will be on a scale that is beyond most of our ability to comprehend. Nuclear, chemical and radiological toxins are already at intolerable levels.
Can you imagine what the Northern hemisphere will be like if the entire Middle East, Far East, Europe and yes, North America are plunged into a war that utilizes chemical weapons, nuclear weapons, depleted uranium rounds and biological agents?
The collapse of the infrastructure of many cites will throw humanity into a state of total anarchy. Don't laugh! -- a "Mad Max" scenario is truly possible.
The weather patterns and ocean currents for the most part will keep much of the pollution and contamination to the Northern hemisphere. For me, this was one of the reasons why I considered moving to the Southern hemisphere.
When looking at a globe, one can see that most of the land mass is north of the equator. The Southern hemisphere consists mainly of the Southern third of Africa, part of Indo-China and Australia, New Zealand, the Southern half of South America and Antarctica.
After doing some research, checking the climates agriculture and other logistics I came to the conclusion that Argentina was to be seriously considered as relatively safe haven to ride out what the coming storm. No, it's not perfect here, there are political problems and corruption as there are anywhere else, but the people here are more in touch with their families and loved ones.
Unlike the US, Aregentina has seen economic collapse and tyranny in recent years and the people know the consequences. They are more prepared in many ways to make it through hard times.
The area I'm in is rural, agricultural and the people are well versed in the barter system. Sure, the infrastructure isn't on par with the US, but who cares when it comes to basic survival.
Susan Beverley: I understand you recently made a trip to the USA after living in Argentina for the past year and half. What observations and comparisons can you share with us, in particular to the lifestyle and attitudes of the people in your home nation and your new adopted country?
Dave vonKleist: In years previous, people who had no concern or interest in a "patriot" or "resistance" movement, people who subscribed to the status quo, people who actually pooh-poohed the idea that something is wrong, appear now to be suffering the consequences of their complacency.
During my recent visit, friends whom I had not seen for some time were now expressing fears and concerns about issues like the illegality of the federal reserve and IRS, the exponential and unchecked growth of the military industrial complex, the corporatism that now rules over both parties, all branches of government, the media etc., all are issues that I and many others were screaming about for years.
I had to resist numerous opportunities to say, "I told you so."
When immersed in the American culture it is very difficult to see the problems and short comings of our country until things get so bad that you wake up one morning and find you are staring in to the eyes of a beast. The other way to become aware of Americas warts is to step away for a while and look back from a new perspective.
After having now gained a whole new perspective, looking from the outside in, my perception is that the people in America are angry, frustrated and more afraid than they were before 9-11 or any other time in our country's history.
Now America has the department of homeland security, super congress, FEMA, a Patriot Bill, none of which were brought in to existence by Osama, Saddam or Al Qaeda (Al CIAda).
So why don't Americans feel safer? Did it ever occur to them that the whole point was to bring about their discontent so as to justify the creation of the bureaucracies, the passage of oppressive laws and economic conditions that have brought us to a higher level of complacency? (The Hegelian dialectic still works)
By comparison, the people in the area of Argentina where I live are freer to focus on the more important things in life. A lifestyle that is unencumbered by the fear, frustration and anger is the goal of many expats like myself who have chosen to relocate to an area where the values are more focused on family, friends and quality of life. After all, isn't that what we all want?
Susan Beverley: Are you back in Argentina permanently now, or do you anticipate any circumstances or changes that that would entice you to returning to live in the USA?
Dave vonKleist: All options are on the table, but quite frankly until the USA offers the security, opportunity and moral fiber that I grew up believing was available, I have every right and indeed duty to myself and loved ones to pursue greener pastures as I see them. It breaks my heart to say so but I'm simply calling a spade a spade.
Susan Beverley: Overall, do you feel safer living in Argentina than in the USA?
Dave vonKleist: Absolutely! If you want to be free, you have to live free. As mentioned, my new mantra for the remainder of my life is simple: "Live, Laugh, Love and Sing about it!" Until conditions in the United States of America improve, I will be unable to return because I cannot "live" there.
Susan Beverley: And to conclude this interview, what message would you like to share with anyone who has an interest in your whereabouts and wellbeing?
Dave vonKleist: First off, I want to thank those who supported me during the "Power Hour" years and want them to know my heart is, and always will be, with those who stood with me at all those events we attended around the country.
My message to them and to all the others who care is to find peace with your friends and family. In the end, all we have is the love around us, and that is the only thing that matters. If we are to be consumed with anger, frustration, fear and hatred, it diminishes and distracts us from the important things in life and lessens us as human beings.
I have accepted the fact that I could only do so much and gave all I had to give... and then some. Despite my efforts, vets are still abused, the real perpetrators of the 9/11 attacks continue to run free and the globalist-NWO agenda continues to move forward. I can't change that.
What time I have left is now dedicated to sharing with my loved ones and bringing music and laughter to those around me. ---
The following post is from our American-expat correspondent in Chile, Dr. John Cobin:
I echo the absolute vanity and hopelessness of relying on the Republican party to save America, even the relatively few dedicated "tea party" people that might now make up 10% of the 454 (with rare exception) evildoers in the House of Representatives. They will not be able to steer, veer or otherwise alter the course of the boat they are on. Public choice theory ("majority rule" -- especially bad when the majority is corrupt and immoral) precludes such a thing. There is a greater probability that our parents will find the fountain of youth by Christmas, than that the Republican party will "fix" America or restore its constitutional and Jeffersonian base.
Moreover, the idea that America is the global engine of the world is dubious at best. Sure, Americans have traditionally consumed more than any other nation. Consumerism is king. Prices of goods have been relatively low in America on account of the fierce competition it has (or at least used to have). So Americans buy. They also produce. Americans consume 30% of the world's natural resources but also produce 35% of the world's goods and services. There is no doubt that American is and has been an economic powerhouse.
Yet those facts do not mean that the rest of the world will rise or fall with America's fortunes. The fact that Chile, for instance, has a current GDP growth rate of over 6%, low inflation and has seen unemployment drop over 3% in the last year (to 7.6%), while America stagnates at 1.8% GDP growth, beleaguered by idiotic monetary and fiscal policies (which the Republican House will in large measure leave untouched), rising inflation and 9.8% unemployment (both being curiously lower figures than American reality indicates), show that a country can go in the opposite direction of America. Chile has been largely untouched by America's recent depression. Other natural resource-based and export-based economies have also been doing well during the northern hemisphere's self-induced recession: Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong are a few other examples. The fact is that natural resource-based economies are going to prosper in the short run by the boost in metals prices, along with other commodities (in terms of dollars of course), and in the long run by increasing sales of products to feed the socialist and bailout projects of the USA and other countries.
What is there to do? The answer is quite clear. (1) Get your assets out of the USA. (2) Get a passport. (3) Get an escape route planned with adequate and realistic transportation. (4) Get to a suitable place as soon as you can.
Chile has pulled away from New Zealand and Panama recently, at least in my mind, as the leading place for most people to go. I still see virtue for brave souls to go to Hong Kong if they can afford it, ditto for European enclaves like Monaco, Guernsey, Andorra or Liechtenstein if they can afford it (and win the local immigration lottery), or even an island nation somewhere (if they like living on islands). Uruguay has never been on the radar screen as a freer place to go, even though it might be an okay place to get a second passport or park some money. One American immigrant here was recently asked why he came to Chile. He stated that, "because it is the best country in the Western Hemisphere." He was mistaken only in that Chile is probably the best overall country, despite it many shortcomings, in the entire world. Some 30 years ago I might have said the same thing about America. I can no longer do so. If you will be honest, neither can you.
How much longer will "our kind" of people continue in their vain hope that America will right itself, especially via Republicans? No one has offered any reasonable reason for hope in the "land of the free."
In terms of making an impact in Chile, while excellent "obscure" writers like Dr. Steven Yates (who deserves to be heard) are relegated to off-the-charts minor league newspapers like The Times Examiner in Greenville, South Carolina (where I dedicated much time writing as well), the impact that he and others would have in Chile is remarkably high. Libertarian-types (including constitutionalists and "real" Republicans) will find fertile ground in Chile to share their ideas with friends, acquaintances and students whom will often seriously consider their ideas and change their views to be more liberty-minded. They like gringos and by default appreciate our perspective.
Many of my frank or even "hard core" letters to the editor get published in national papers, and many people have asked me (after meeting me for the first time) "Are you the same Dr. Cobin who writes letters to the editor?" I have been able to speak at intellectuals' dinner clubs which are designed to discuss and debate new ideas. I have made considerable inroads in promoting homeschooling in many places, for instance, as well as promoting free market capitalism, denouncing socialism and faith in the state, denouncing Lincoln and the War of Northern Aggression, blasting radical feminism and radical environmentalism or ecology, promoting market-based alternatives like free banking, and decrying abortion policies.
The other day a friend here heard some Marxist on the radio blasting me and my latest book A Primer on Modern Themes in Free Market Economics and Policy, a sure-tell sign that I am having an impact (or at least annoying the Left). I was pleased to hear of it. Perhaps most importantly, I have seen my students have life-changing experiences as they have thought through hard philosophical and economic issues. I have recently supervised their theses dealing with topics like Chilean free banking and using cases in Chile to debunk radical environmentalism. (For fear of not wanting to sound boastful or "narcissist," I will not bore you with other details.) I only hope it can and will continue, by the grace of God.
I point out all of the aforementioned facts mainly to provide encouragement to those who drudge on in the USA hitting one brick wall after another and find themselves increasingly ostracized by the mainstream and even by some true conservatives or libertarians. There are some places in the world in which the ideas of liberty are being well-received. Chile is one of them. And if you have been able to "handle" putting up with the sins of the USA, then handling Chile's relatively minor peccadilloes should be a piece of cake. Plus, I know many liberty-loving Americans not to be cowards. They have shown a willingness to fight for liberty and the truth at considerable personal cost. Now the time has come for them to make the next move: the move out of "the land of the free" to Chile.
I know there will be some exceptions and I feel badly for them. For instance, if you cannot pay for plane fare or food and shelter for awhile, there is no point in even thinking about leaving. Therefore, it is logical that people in such circumstances would try to make the best of their reality and even "believe" in what Republicans will do to "fix" America. Their only hope is to fix America. It may be a vain hope, but they must cling to it. Living without hope, like living in the former USSR, is simply too depressing.
Yet I would encourage those who face such unfortunate circumstances to not think that Republicans will fix things. I do not see any remedy for the insane financial policies of the central bank and the fiscal madness of Obama and his cronies. The public school and Draconian institutions in the USA: ATF, DSS, Family Court, IRS, TSA, etc. will continue to dominate the minds and hearts of most Americans, already too dull on account of their porn, sports, romance novel and TV addictions. America simply will end, sooner or later, even if the body (without the soul of the Founding Fathers) drifts on for a thousand years as a military might and totalitarian regime. Rome did, just as Simon Black recently reminded us in his Sovereign Man "Notes from the Field." The American idea is over. Time to face the facts and deal with them.
You need to leave if you can. Instead of saving for retirement, start saving for plane fare and short term living expenses. Get TEFL qualified so you can teach English when you arrive in Chile. Bring a peanut butter machine so you can start a micro business when you get here, or something to help you survive. The writing is on the wall. Please do not be like so many hold outs in Eastern Europe under Hitler and Stalin who vainly believed that things would get better because they were too paralyzed to move and unable to face the facts, to their own demise. At least in coming to Chile you will have a support network and friends. You will find good or decent churches, wholesome family activities and a nice quality of life.
Like you, I take pride in being culturally American. Characteristics from American culture like generosity, following-through, and volunteerism are laudable. I cherish the nostalgia of what America, and especially the South, used to be. Indeed, like you, I still have the ingrained idea that people should be free. Many of us are Jeffersonian at heart in this sense. How sad it is for me to say to you, "Don't waste all that good energy on a hopeless case like America!" And certainly do not trust Republicans to resolve America's problems. Your window of opportunity will eventually close. So do not miss it.

I began to apply the tools of academic analysis to our proposed move, including immigration policies, job opportunities, and the expected costs and benefits of each country. New Zealand and Chile became our finalists. I knew that it would be impossible to accurately assess the merits of each country without actually living in them. Nonetheless, I did the best I could and it appears that my early predictions were reasonable.
I faxed several Chilean newspapers in order to place ads to find a modest country home to rent. Some Chileans found this request amusing, and one paper in Via del Mar published a story about the crazy gringo and his large family who were going to move to Chile with no job and no family here. This article eventually led to our contacting Marta Ramirez Pea, a very kind and hospitable Chilean woman, who rented us her home and helped us get settled. Indeed, Marta (and her lovely family) stand out among the Chileans we have met as being truly amicable.
Things were difficult for the first several months, as we expected, but we began to make the needed adjustments and life for us continued. Being home-schoolers, moving had little affect on our childrens education. I continued to finalize my doctoral dissertation, and returned to the USA in June 1996 to successfully defend it. (I also received a contract from Avebury Press in London to publish it.) Up to that time, I had had many interviews and had sent out dozens of resumes. Many employers seemed interested in me, especially given that I had two masters degrees (in economics and business economics) and considerable experience in business. There is a high demand for my kind of skills in the professional labor market in Chile. Clearly, the biggest obstacle I encountered was my poor Spanish, which I constantly worked to improve.
Subsequently, in the southern spring (August), I received offers at three universities to teach courses in economics and public policy (in English). I also began doing research and writing for Centro de Estudios Publicos, an academic think tank in Santiago. During 1996 I was pleased to meet some important men, mostly "Chicago-boys" or their intellectual offspring, who proved to be indispensable in helping me find these positions. Corresponding with my gradual improvement in Spanish, I received a full time contract at Universidad Finis Terrae in Santiago in January 1997, where I continue to work. While my Spanish is far from perfect, it is passable now and I am teaching all my courses in Spanish, although I continue most of my reading and research in English. Rather than list all the names separately, suffice it to say that I am indebted to many men at Universidad Finis Terrae, Instituto Libertad y Desarrollo, Centro de Estudios Publicos, Universidad Martima, and Universidad A! dolfo Ibaez.
Hence, we now feel quite settled in our new country and living situation. We have no delusions about life in Chile, and do not promote it as a paradise, but we are satisfied that life for us here is better overall than life in the USA (at least at this point. We have been delighted to find that Chile has been an improvement over the USA in terms of many of our concerns. For example, when Rachel (our sixth child) was born in July 1996, we received friendly gestures and congratulations from everyone and no one chided us for being ignorant and contributing to overpopulation.
Chile is not entirely homogeneous, although it is much more so than say the United States or perhaps Canada. Life in Santiago, which has rightly been called a first world city in a third world country, is far different than life in other parts of Chile (especially outside of the other two major population centers of Concepcin and Via del Mar/Valparaiso. Nevertheless, it might be possible to make some useful general observations. We have spent considerable time living in Santiago, Via del Mar, and Ensenada (in south central Chile), as well as driving through much of the country, to give us a good understanding of Chilean life. Thus, I am confident that any generalizations I make here will find at least some useful, if not wide, application.
Economists and policy-relevant researchers often evaluate the costs and benefits of public policies, a method which in turn can provide useful information to others. This article attempts to do just that, although the focus of analysis is life in Chile as a whole rather than a single public policy. Especially when considering a country as a candidate for migration, it seems essential to be as frank and objective as possible, while avoiding personal or cultural aspersions. Like all things, we tend to remember the bad things more than the good things, and we often tend to take the good things for granted after a while. Having lived in Chile for about eighteen months now, I hope to present some useful insights and observations, especially for the benefit of Americans who are contemplating migrating to Chile.
Dr. John Cobin, Chile Consultant Chile-Consulting http://chile-consulting.cl/node/1 Advocacy and Consultancy Services for Ex-Pats Keen on Coming to Chile A site for people who are thinking about leaving North America or Europe, and who have selected Chile as an ideal venue for good opportunities to live and work.
Dr. John Cobin, Chile Consultant I am delighted that you are interested in coming to Chile and making it your new home. Chile is a great place to live, from its First World and beautifully-treed capital, Santiago, to its world-class beach areas, to its provincial towns and spectacular landscapes. Chile is relatively inexpensive, has a wonderful climate in its mid section, with some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world in its southern half.
I help people obtain visas, find an appropriate part of Chile to live in, acquire property, find sources to meet friends and start relationships, get started with financial accounts and buy Chilean gold coins and guns. My business is rather serious. I realize that you will be making a life changing decision by moving to a new country and I want to help you feel welcome and comfortable.
As you can probably imagine, I get a lot of inquiries from people wanting advice and comments on their plans. In fact, it can be a bit overwhelming. Due to the high demand for my services, especially due to my relationship with www.SovereignMan.com customers, many of whom are coming down for the Resilient Community project near Talca, we have set up a mode of entry to separate casual from serious inquiries. (I hope you will appreciate my need to do so.)
Some of my clients come in through the regular consultancy service while others choose to start with one of our two varieties of residency programs. The latter program is discussed at length later in this entry and in the blog entries below. The former is a straightforward arrangement which requires that a US$995 initial consultation fee be sent by Western Union (available at most grocery stores in the USA) to John Macarewich Cobin in Santiago, Chile. Notify me by email to firstname.lastname@example.org when you have the MCTN number from Western Union and we will set up a time to talk over the phone for an hour and have follow up phone calls and emails as needed. Once in Chile, the daily rate for services is US$500, plus all expenses, paid in cash (peso equivalent, 250,000 pesos) daily and billed at half day intervals.

RESIDENCY PROGRAM Some people want help getting their Chilean residency and are willing to pay for it. For that reason, we have just established a professional one-year residency program that can help native speakers of English get going. Getting a visa in Chile is a tried-and-true turnkey operation that has gotten good results.
In our program a client gets a contract visa which can lead to permanent residency if he fulfills the in-country time requirement. We also help clients open bank and mutual fund accounts, special life insurance accounts, and obtain medical insurance. For an additional fee, we also help with setting up wills, setting up business structures and purchasing a gun.
The cost is USD$2,995 (additional services extra). Additional funds to cover your salary plus payroll taxes and administration are deposited for the contract visa program. Generally speaking, mainly the well-healed will tend to participate.
The program is designed to help those with a high opportunity cost and time preference move to Chile permanently and set up their lives. Here is a list of the main benefits of the Contract Visa program's package (the basic program includes the first four items; the rest of the items are at an additional cost):
1. Obtain a contract visa 2. Apply for permanent residency, if the client qualifies, after one year 3. Open a checking account, mutual funds and savings accounts with bilingual branch staff 4. Open tax-advantaged life insurance investment accounts 5. Help the client obtain medical insurance and ambulance coverage, if desired 6. Help the client buy and register a gun, if desired 7. Help the client rent a car from a reduced-price agency, if desired 8. Help single clients hook up with reasonable dating services, if desired 9. Help the client wire unlimited amounts of tax-free cash to their accounts 10. Write a will for the client (notary fees not included) 11. Set up one company for the client (notary and legal fees not included) 12. Advise the client on shipping containers, one being tax-free with the visa, and arrange for a customs and shipping agent in Chile 13. Get the client's National ID card (carné) with RUT number 14. Obtain investor's tax ID number (used when buying real estate, among other things) 15. Help the client buy Chilean gold coins, if desired 16. Reasonable, unlimited phone consultations with Dr. Cobin, or one of the program's consultants, for one year after committing to the program.
Obviously, the full package is far more than a simple visa service. It is a getting-set-up-in-Chile service. If you would like to find out more, please call Dr. Cobin at +1-864-244-6464 or +1-864-244-8177 (weekends and evenings are best). You can also send an email to email@example.com. Serious inquiries only.

"Sir, you can go ahead and button your shirt back up," said the TSA agent.
We'd only been trying to help. We were passing through Houston on our way from Acapulco to the Agora Financial Symposium in Vancouver.
We'd opted out of the Rapiscan irradiation machine and so had to be felt up by an agent. We meant to call attention to how absurd the entire security theory was by playing the part of compliant victim with scorn in his eyes. So we slowly stripped until we were told to stop. We only got as far as unbottoning our shirt.
Our host in Acapulco had been Jeff Berwick of The Dollar Vigilante. Jeff had been to something like 140 countries in the past few years. He'd sailed his own boat to quite a few of those and only used a plane after the shipwreck. He had found the closest thing to freedom in agreeable surroundings in Acapulco.
"The U.S. is toast, amigo," he'd told us, "You need to take advantage of your status as a mobile, contract internet writer and get out while the getting's good...
"And Canada is even worse, by the way."
Jeff wasn't kidding, especially about that last part as I would discover upon entering Canada today. (More on that later).
We could tell things had gotten a lot worse with the border patrols this year from the very start of our international travels several days ago. The TSA thug who checked our passport on the way from Las Vegas to Acapulco was a hatchet-faced twentysomething with a buzzcut. His eyes bulged slightly but he kept them hooded as he looked back and forth with suspicion between our passport photo and us. He reminded us of a lizard: predatory and untroubled by higher thought.
After twenty seconds of the back and forth reptilian gazing, we inclined ourselves slightly toward him and slowly raised an eyebrow. He waved us through.
"Welcome to freedom," Jeff had told us on our first day in Mexico. He was spot on there too. If there was something you couldn't do in Mexico--as long as you didn't molest anyone else--we certainly didn't discover it. Relevant to this part of the story is how spoiled Mexico had gotten us. In only a week we'd gotten used to not having to worry terribly much about the state's goons telling us how to behave.
Then we made the mistake of reading some quotes from Albert Jay Nock among others in Jeffery Tucker's Bourbon For Breakfast en route between Houston and Vancouver.
The personal freedom experienced in Acapulco...reading hours of anti-state musings...and then being faced with state thugs at a couple of borders. It was a dangerous mix. By the time we landed in Canada, we were fairly seething. Good thing we hadn't been drinking too.
After telling us to button our shirt back up the Houston TSA agent asked if we wouldn't rather have him feel us up in private.
"No, no...right out here is fine," we said.
He instructed us to hold our arms out to the side with palms up and then he began. We tried our best to maintain eye contact the entire time. Some people stopped to watch.
But that's nothing compared to what happened when we actually got into Canada. If the U.S. is bad, Canada is worse.
At least in the U.S. they pretend to care about things like personal sovereignty. There remains outrage over things like the TSA and more nationalization of medical services.
Mexico seems to have real liberty where it counts. (If it weren't for the U.S.-led Prohibition-style war on drugs, Mexico's cartels would be no more powerful or violent than Rite Aid and Mexico itself could be a paradise.) The U.S. pays liberty some lip service.
In Canada we find no such sentiment about liberty. It seems things just get worse the farther north you go, as if freedom can't stomach the cold.
Canadians have gleefully committed their lives to the care and direction of the state as far back as anyone cares to remember. Perhaps that long-nurtured nationally socialist spirit is why Canada's border guards are the scariest we've yet encountered.
They were to a one young, wearing bullet-proof vests over their crisp uniforms and serious as heart attacks. If the USA's thugs seem a little bumbling as they do their government's dirty work, the Canadian versions make up for it. Those young men and women processing passengers gave us the impression that they'd just as efficiently process undesirables into concentration camps.
It was 1 am local time when we had our turn with an unsmiling Canadian border guard. Perhaps we didn't answer snappily enough. Perhaps we were a bit surly after having read those selections from Nock. Whatever the reason, we were marked for further processing, something we didn't find out till after waiting another 45 minutes to get our luggage. At that point we were not in the right frame of mind to deal with state agents docilely.
And sure enough there was trouble.
"Sir, you seem to have a problem with me," said the not un-pretty customs lady in the backroom after she'd asked us the same questions the first customs agent had asked us an hour ago. We were having tremendous trouble hiding the anger in our voice even though we'd managed to speak slowly and quietly so far. We probably looked pretty wound up too, like someone ready to swing at a square off in a bar.
"I don't like being treated like this," we answered, "Don't you think I should be bothered by it? Doesn't it bother you? The way the state is bringing down the hammer lately?" Stupid questions, especially the last one.
We had already long ago resigned ourselves to going to jail and being sent back to the U.S. So we continued, "I am going to the same conference in the same hotel I've been coming to for the past three years. Why treat me like this now? Why treat anyone like this? I mean, here I am trying to go about my business and now anything I say wrong can land me in jail."
"Sir, I don't know you. You don't know me. There's no reason to be upset with me," she said.
Ah, but there was. While we rant about the state, it all really comes down to individuals. It's individuals who have rights, not groups. It is individuals who are are responsible for their actions. She was enforcing the bad laws, imposing the duty, the fines, the forced detention. She was the low-level muscle helping run a protection racket for the state.
She took our passport and U.S. resident alien card and disappeared into a secured office with a couple of her cronies. She returned about five minutes later and told us that we were free to go.
"So why did this happen?" we asked. "What did I do to call attention to myself and make you guys want to detain me? Is there a way to avoid this and go about my business (without molestation) in the future?"
"No, nothing," she said, "This was random and we have the power to stop anyone we wish upon their entry into this country."
We couldn't stop hearing Jeff's words in our head:
"Give up the green card. Go live for cheap in Asia or Latin America and live your life as free from government interference as you can. Stay the hell away from the U.S...Canada too. And Western Europe. What's going on in New Hampshire with the Free State Project is exciting, but I don't know if it's worth sticking around when you have the opportunity to get out entirely."
We've been entertaining the same thoughts on expatriation for years, with the same sorts of destinations in mind. We're not under the delusion that any of these places are perfect. But the little bit we've seen tells us that they are...different...And in the ways that matter to us better.
Albert Jay Nock wrote in Memoirs of a Superfluous Man:
"As a general principle, I should put it that a man's country is where the things he loves are most respected. Circumstances may have prevented his ever setting foot there, but it remains his country."
Too true. And what a shame it would be for circumstances to allow a man to live where it suits him and for him to remain instead where it doesn't.
Today's contributor is Fernando "FerFAL" Aguirre. Many of our readers have expressed interest in hearing accounts from those who have lived through economic collapse. FerFAL experienced the hyperinflationary destruction of Argentina's economy in 2001 and continues to blog about his experiences and observations of its lingering aftermath. His website and his book Surviving the Economic Collapse offer windows into the probable outcomes to expect during a collapsing economy. Note: Our site's What Should I Do? Guide offers specific guidance relevant to a number of the steps FerFAL recommends below.
"How can I prepare for an economic collapse?" is one of the most common questions I get. It usually takes me a second to start to explain how complex such a question is. It's like asking an auto mechanic, "Say, how do you build a car?" or asking a computer engineer, "What's all that stuff inside my laptop?"
I do have some first-hand experience in this matter, though. The economy in my country, Argentina, has gone through various crises, but none as large as when the economy collapsed in 2001 after a decade of apparent prosperity. The currency devaluated, and Argentina defaulted on its USD$132 billion debt, the largest default ever. The middle class took to the streets after bank accounts were frozen, and the president was forced to resign, escaping the presidential building in a helicopter.
What I'll do is, provide five quick foundational steps, based on what I know, for you to follow so as to be better prepared if something like what happened in my country ever happens in yours.
Step #1: Secure a percentage of your savings in bullion (silver, gold, old silver coins). Five years ago, even the most paranoid person claimed you would never see "nationalized" banks in USA. The gung-ho survivalists claimed the entire country would go up in flames and open revolts would start before something as insane as a $700+ billion bailout to save the "too big to fail" rich elite was laid on the backs of the American working class. Yet here we are.
When I try to explain this very important issue to my American friends, they tell me that banks would never steal people's money because there are laws against that in the USA. Their money is insured. We had those same laws in Argentina, but still it happened. We had a constitutional right to private property. Yet the constitution mattered little during the collapse. Go right ahead -- sue the government of the United States if something like that ever happens. Maybe you'll get some of your savings back in a few years. If they feel like returning it.
What people don't understand is that laws are written by men, not some greater power. As soon as those running the show feel an emergency decree or law is in order, existing laws are simply rewritten. They may even be ignored all together! What do you do if something like that happens? You may complain, you may sue, but you're not changing the cold hard fact that as of right now that bank door is closed, that ATM has no money in it, and you still have to survive. This is something Argentines have experienced and know very well. Hundreds of thousands of us have banged the doors of our banks, for years, without a penny being returned. You still sued, and waited, and spent the little money you had by hiring a lawyer. You lose, they win...unless you have some of that money at hand before they decide to steal it.
Every single Argentine wishes he could go back in time, close his bank account, and put that money into gold. We would all do that if we had a time machine. Since you can't guess the future, all you can do is estimate what can happen and play the odds in your favor. In the event of a full economic collapse, if you have 20% of your savings in physical gold and silver, that's a percentage of your savings that is spared. It's not an investment; don't go crazy over gold and silver going up or down a few dollars, just be content that it's not getting any lighter as it sits in your safe. If the economy collapses or even if there's simply inflation (as there clearly will be), that percentage of your savings in precious metals is safe and will likely go up in price beyond its standard purchasing power as things get worse.
During the first stages of a severe economic crisis, you will see ATMs running out of money fast, and many stores won't be accepting credit cards. As the saying goes, "Cash is king" during those times. Your precious metal can be sold to a dealer, but you better keep that stored for now. When everyone is running around looking for an ATM with a few bucks in it, having a month's worth of expenses in cash means you won't be one of them. Why not more than a month´s worth of expenses? Because if the economy fully collapses, that paper money will lose its value within hours. It may drop 50%, 60%, or 75%, as happened in Argentina. Who knows? All you know is that as the currency loses value, the value of the precious metals you have stored goes up in proportion. Still, during those first days, a wad of cash gets you what you need.
So, step one is acquiring precious metals (I generally recommend 20% of your savings but each person is a separate case) and a month's worth of expenses in cash, kept safe at home.
Step #2: Stock up on food. The more you have, the better. There may be periods of civil unrest like the ones we saw where stores are being looted and closed after that. There may be problems with resupply because of logistical complications. It's better if you already have 6 to 12 months worth of food in your expanded pantry. Also, keep in mind the food you buy now will be considerably cheaper compared to post-inflation prices.
This large supply of food will bring peace of mind in case of job loss, as well. Who knows how long it will be before you find another source of income? After the 2001 collapse, some people genuinely spent YEARS looking for a job without finding any. I can't emphasize enough the peace of mind it brings knowing you still have some time, and that you can, in fact, put food on the table the following night.
The food should be long-term storage type, requiring little or no cooking, at least for some of it. Water is also essential, so having a two-week supply is advised. The minimum amount is a gallon per person per day, and you should double that for flushing toilets and taking an elemental bath in case the water service is interrupted.
Step #3: Acquire the essentials by putting together a survival/emergency kit. This will include your typical camping gear: a tent, sleeping bags, a stove (have enough fuel for it in case services are disrupted), first aid kit, medicines, LED flashlights and several spare batteries. Depending on how bad civil unrest gets, there may be problems with the infrastructure. After the economy collapsed in Argentina, the power company simply couldn't afford the repairs needed, and it hadn't planned for something like this, either. Rolling blackouts became common, and having LED lights and rechargeable batteries was a blessing. You could easily spend two or three days without power during summer. At one time, downtown Buenos Aires was left without power for five days. Imagine the complications this brings. If natural gas service is interrupted, you may need other ways of cooking. A camping stove and enough fuel will get you through it.
Step #4: Improve your personal and home security. If you ask any Argentinean what concerns him the most, 9 out of 10 people will have the same answer: security. In second place is the economic situation. Ten years after the economic collapse, things are nothing like they used to be. Half of the middle class became poor, and its standard of living has decreased considerably. We're still a high-risk economy, and it shows. Inflation is still rampant and can be anywhere from 5% to 10% per month, usually hitting the middle class the worst. But that's something we've grown used to. That's something we can live with.
What concerns Argentineans the most is the crime problem, and the out-of-control violent crime we suffer is the major legacy of the 2001 economic collapse. Poverty sure didn't help, nor did social segregation. But the greatest cause responsible for the crime levels we suffer is our own government. The liberal government that took control after the collapse considers criminals to be poor victims of brutal capitalism. The unofficial stance is that criminals have a right to steal, murder and rape - in their view, it's how the "poor" get back at the rich and middle class who thrived during the 90's. Of course, with a government like that, the crime problem just keeps getting worse.
During the first days after the economy collapsed, civil unrest, rioting and looting was out of control. A state of siege and military law was declared, enforcing curfew hours after 10 pm. This lasted a few months, and for months after that, while order was recovered in the capitol district, there were still occasional revolts and looting. The sense of lawlessness extended way beyond the visible accounts depicted by the TV and general media. It's during times like these that you realize you must have means of defending yourself and your family.
My advice is to make your home as secure as possible against criminals that may take advantage of the lack of control during the worst of the rioting. After that, a better security plan for the entire family must be worked out. As things get worse, you understand that you can no longer afford to be lax about your personal and home security. Those that are quickly become vicitims. With a more secure home, you may want to consider having a weapon to defend yourself. Certainly not an easy decision, and one you must be extremely serious about. If you have the self-control and maturity to handle one, having a firearm and getting the minimum training to know how to use (it if it ever comes to that) is something you should consider doing.
Crime and insecurity will be one of the greatest threats people all across USA will suffer, and very few will be ready for it. It won't happen one dark gloomy night after watching the latest horror movie. It will happen in the Walmart parking lot at 3 pm, with plenty of people around (people who will hurry out of the way, pretending not to see anything). You'll be thinking about what you just bought, that you maybe should have bought Lucky Charms instead of Corn Flakes. That's when the nice-looking person with two other buddies, all well-dressed (with neat hair cuts, too), pulls a gun on you. Developing a sense of awareness will be the most important part, as well as making the rest of your family comprehend that times have changed and you can no longer be careless regarding security.
Step #5: Embrace a different mindset. When Argentina went through its economic collapse, people handled it differently. Maybe the most common response was denial. The "I can't believe this is happening " attitude was pretty popular. Others complained, but you soon understood it changed nothing: It only made you feel more miserable, more stressed, and that was something you could do without. Others just ended their misery. Suicide rates doubled after the collapse, with people sometimes jumping under the train at early rush hour in a desperate attempt to make their misery noticed by others.
What you need to do is become more positive, more active. Be someone who, while accepting those things you can't change, does something about the things you can. Get involved now, do what I just recommended right now, it will bring you peace of mind. Remember to stay positive and put every problem into perspective. Complain less. You'll have enough to complain about when inflation gets worse. Soon you'll understand that material things can be replaced, and you become more grateful for what you have instead of worrying about what you don't.
It's essential to keep a positive attitude. Being someone that gets easily depressed will be the end of you as the economy worsens. Problems much worse that what you are used to will be a daily occurrence. You'll just have to roll with it and learn to cope with the new world you live in. Reinforce your relationships with people. Fight stress by finding a hobby you enjoy, hopefully one that has a practical side as well. After the collapse, lots of people started their own businesses when they realized there were no jobs to be found. It would be better if you get started now, just in case you ever need it in order to earn a living.
These are my recommendations. I know many people could have used such advice back when our economy collapsed.
Some common questions regarding hyperinflation How quickly does it happen? These events occur fast, but there are warning signs: lack of investment; higher interest rates; unemployment. When banks start coming up with excuses so as to not give you your money right away when closing an account, that's usually not a good sign.
As for inflation and hyperinflation, they happen right in front of your eyes. It actually happened to me that the price of an item I picked in a store almost doubled in price by the time I reached the cash register. The employee just placed the sticker with the new price over the old one (no time to remove them) Employees rushed around changing prices several times a day, all day long during the ongoing crisis. It was fun to peel back the stack of stickers with the different prices and see how they had gone up in a matter of hours. Rioting happens fast, too. Once the banks close rioting is just minutes away.
What happens to your savings/investments? I didn't have much but managed to close my account just a day before the banks closed their doors. My parents are accountants and saw the signs mentioned earlier. When we went to the bank a nice lady told us they didn't have USD$1,000 in the bank. Our jaws just dropped. That same day we went to the main branch and closed the account my sister and I had. The next day all banks closed, the accounts where frozen.
As for real estate, that was a pretty safe investment. Eventually rents went up so as to compensate for the devaluation. Of course you were much better of with your money in bricks and mortar than in a bank account.
How does the populace react? Violently, as you'd expect when your life savings are stolen from you.
What is the government saying/doing? Laws were changed to make everything nice and legal. The excuses the then-president Fernando De La Rua came up with in his speeches during the crisis just made everything worse.
Just days before the bank holidays they promised none of that would happen. Same thing before the devaluation. They swore on their mothers's names they wouldn't do such a thing, then did it the following day. Politicians tend to do such things, and they are all similar worldwide.
What happens to the capital markets? The stock market dropped like a rock, then shut down. What surprised you the most was how everything was simply frozen in expectation. No one wanted to spend a single cent, not even to buy half a gallon of paint for a work site because you just didn't know what would happen in a matter of hours, let alone next week. The biggest investors had sold and left the country months before everything went down. Another sign to look for.
Does violence and crime become an immediate concern? Yes it does. While stores were the more common targets, houses were looted, too. The best thing to do was stay home, have a defendable position and be armed. I had looters not 20 yards away from my home. What do you do if they rush your home? Can you just open fire on them? What will they do when/if you do? All these things flash into your mind.
A significant amount of people behave because they believe there's a punishment if they do otherwise. Once that fear is removed because the authorities have clearly lost control, you see the worst of people's nature. It's not a pleasant thought, but it's better to be ready.

Making Potting Mix Monday, April 16, 2012, 1:17 pm, by jasonw
With spring upon us and the warming of the earth, many readers are getting the urge and itch to get outside and start planting a garden. Whether your garden is large enough to feed a community or just big enough to supplement your everyday fresh greens addiction, at some point you will need a supply of potting soil. From container herb gardens to the square-foot garden method, potting soil will need to be on hand. High-quality potting soil is an essential component to a successful garden season because it provides the foundational medium in which your plants will start and continue to grow in. In this article I discuss the process and recipe that I have used for many years for making great potting soil. I hope to provide you with ideas on how to make the best mix for your garden and ways to save money in the future.
The Recipe The following is an excellent general seed starting mix and transplant mix. For plants that might require a lighter mix, use a 2-1-1 ratio of the following ingredients.
Mix the following ingredients together in a sealable bag or container to maintain moisture if potting mix is to be stored for any length of time.

If you really want to change America, here are some organizations you can join that will keep steadily working to change our country (and preserve the freedom that our forefathers died to bequeath us) beyond just this upcoming election:

They are not mere complainers. They have a plan to do something about it. They also share a common belief in The Creed of Freedom, which is a statement of principles that guide them in their mission to build a better world.
Join the (Patriotic, Resilient, Conservative) Resistance
Welcome to Obama's nation... The "transformational" figure who will "change the world" is now in charge, and he's on a mission. Emboldened by an overwhelming electoral victory and a near-supermajority in Congress, President-elect Obama and his allies are preparing to implement his liberal, "post-American" agenda. Simply put, what President-elect Obama and the Pelosi-Reid Congress have in store has the potential to rapidly move America to the socialist Left.
1 million citizens resisting... Who can stop the Obama agenda? Only an unprecedented idea-based Resistance from freedom-loving citizens can prevent the full implementation of Obama's march to the Left. That's why Grassfire.org is seeking to identify and mobilize grassroots citizens who will Join The Resistance -- an alliance of patriotic, resilient and determined conservatives who will not forsake their principles. Our goal? One million citizens joining together by Inauguration Day, January 20, 2009.
The Resistance States: As an American citizen, while I will show respect to President-elect Obama, I oppose the far-Left and socialistic elements that comprise the centerpiece of his agenda. I recognize that it will take a patriotic and resilient Citizen Resistance to block implementation of this agenda and I join with others who oppose these threats to our liberties.
Specifically, I Resist (click on link and you can choose from these):
Socialistic wealth redistribution including any and all tax increases and big-government welfare programs. Silencing conservatives through the Fairness Doctrine and other efforts that restrict free speech.
Open border anarchy including amnesty for illegal aliens and promotion of multi-nation "unions". Government-run health care that weakens our system and imposes more tax burdens on citizens.
Weakening of our military through rapid pullback from Iraq, defunding our troops and overall disarmament. Social liberalism including radical pro-abortion agenda, the end of marriage and the homosexual agenda.
Liberal court activism that undermines faith, family and liberties while expanding government control. Post-American globalismthat diminishes our global role and threatens our national sovereignty.
Environmental extremism, the CO2 tax, undermining coal and nuclear, and bans on exploration.

+ + Obama Resistance Update
Please take part in Grassfire's "Join The Resistance" campaign. I'm thrilled to report that in just one week, more than 100,000 citizens have joined the Resistance!
This is great news, especially with more and more reports about the very aggressive agenda President-elect Obama has set for the first days of his administration.
Obama's promised executive orders alone will shut down oil and gas exploration, push radical global warming policies and force taxpayer funded abortions. And now Obama is promising more massive bailouts that will further expand government power.
+ + Our Goal: 200,000 Resisters This Week!
In order to reach our goal of 1 million Resisters by Inauguration Day, we must cross 200,000 this week.
We have already begun aggressive efforts to get the word out through conservative radio, Drudge Report and other means. But I need your help to spread the word TODAY:
Please forward this message to your conservative friends right now and ask them to Join The Resistance. Your friends can go here to sign:
Also, my staff is finalizing Grassfire's booklet "Living In An Obama Nation" which outlines the 21 greatest threats the Obama Administration poses to your family and our nation. I expect to have this 48-page booklet to the printer tomorrow and shipping on time before the end of the month.

Thank you so much for taking a stand with Grassfire! Together, we can mount a patriotic, resilient, conservative Resistance to Barack Obama and the socialist Left.

Reagan Conservative Revolution Returns Thousands Sign On As "Reagan Activists" Join The NEW Reagan Revolution Bring Conservatism BACK! From the Desk of Michael Reagan Date: Nov 11, 2008
Dear Conservative Friend,
My father wasn't afraid to call evil what it was -- and neither am I. He defeated the "Evil Empire" called the Soviet Union -- but now we face a new "Evil Empire." It's called Socialism, and it's taken over our once-free nation through the victories of Obama, Pelosi and Reid.
We MUST do this. Really -- what choice do we have, except to fight back and WIN? As my father, President Ronald Reagan, once said, "We must act today in order to preserve tomorrow."
It's official: America has its first truly Socialist president... and it's the Republican Party's fault.
No, scratch that -- it's the so-called "leaders" of the GOP who are at fault for this humiliating defeat -- and I say it's time to name names and make heads roll in our party. Because, my fellow conservatives, we have been BETRAYED by the very people who promised that, if we would just elect them, they would get into office and vote OUR conservative values.
THEY LIED... THE GOP DIED.
We CAN fight back -- Join me now in the NEW Reagan Revolution, to bring Conservatism BACK! ReaganAction.com
Real Reagan Conservatives Are Ready To Do Everything in Their Power To Help Michael with This New Campaign.
Just look at One of the Thousands of Letters We Received!
Please tell Michael,
Back in 1990 Ron sent me a personal letter after I wrote to him with my concerns about the economy and the USSR threat of nuclear war.
(I have since lost the letter). But the core of the letter was to direct me to build my life and business and the small details. To leave the big stuff to him and the really big stuff to God.
He touched my heart. I consider Ronald Reagan to me as a father and have loved him since.
I cried myself to sleep the night I found out he had passed away. I also adore Nancy. She is such a true woman.
I will do everything in my power to help you with this new campaign and direction.
FYI: I have a massive Bully Pulpit to the people. My business has over 200 million subscribers and trust me I will be a very big ally to this cause.
Most of my subscribers are small aspiring entrepreneurs. We CAN fight back -- Join me now in the NEW Reagan Revolution, to bring Conservatism BACK!
As I think about the election results -- maps, vote tallies, exit polls, state and national results, and much more -- I have to say that, like many of you, I'm in a state of shock.
Not because I'm surprised, mind you -- I warned you that this would happen if the Republican Party nominated John McCain for president.
Yes, I was right... but believe me, that doesn't make me happy. What it makes me... is angry.
• Angry at the Democrats,
• Angry at the "moderate" (meaning liberal) Rockefeller-wing of the Republican Party, who tried to kill the idea of grassroots involvement of hardworking, patriotic, conservative Americans in our party.
• Angry with President Bush because he was unwilling to stop Republican Congressional leaders from overspending.
• Angry at the so-called "leaders" of our party, who promised us that if we'd just vote for who they put up for election, we'd finally get what we wanted: smaller government, lower taxes, dramatically lower spending, pro-life laws, pro-marriage constitutional amendments, pro-American economics... well, YOU AND I put them in power, and they gave us nothing but BIG GOVERNMENT, BIG DEFICITS, and LIBERAL COMPROMISES.
But we CAN resurrect it -- IF we start TODAY to take action, by both booting out our failed fake-conservative "leadership" AND vowing to FIGHT tooth and nail against the coming tidal wave of destructive, anti-American legislation that's now heading our way... thanks to Obama, Pelosi and Reid.
I say, NO MORE! Join me now in the NEW Reagan Revolution, to bring Conservatism BACK!
As bad as the election results were, I believe there IS "light at the end of the tunnel" -- I believe we now have the opportunity to finally turn out these fake "leaders" that have betrayed conservatism and given us Barack Obama. We have the opportunity to bring back the Reagan wing of the Republican Party, to slow down the socialist legislation from Pelosi and Reid, and to restore this great Republic to its original ideals of basic self-evident truths: our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
This is our chance, friend. It may be our ONLY chance to save our Party -- and it may be our LAST chance to save our country.
Here's what I'm doing to help make that happen: Today, I'm officially launching a new website, ReaganAction.com. This is no wimpy little website with some news articles and a bunch of editorial writers griping about how bad things are. The time for "just talking" is OVER -- now is the time for ACTION!
Every day, we'll give the members of this site -- our own "Reagan Activists" -- the information they need in order to take real grassroots action to counter the greatest political threat we've ever faced within our own government. It won't take a lot of time -- usually only a few minutes a day -- but the political payout will be HUGE!
Here are some of the things that YOU AND I will be able to do at ReaganAction.com:
• STOP LIBERAL BILLS -- We can expect an immediate onslaught of extreme liberal bills to be "fast-tracked" through Congress and signed by Obama. We will constantly be on the watch for these bills -- and every time they get introduced, we'll alert our Activists to literally FLOOD Capitol Hill with millions of phone calls, faxes, emails and even hand-delivered letters and petitions, DEMANDING that our elected legislators do what WE say, or else face our wrath at the next election!
• FIGHT LIBERAL EXECUTIVE ORDERS -- You can be sure that President Obama (oh, how that phrase terrifies me!) will get right to work on Day One, issuing Executive Orders that will make your skin crawl: repealing pro-life presidential directives, ordering agencies to fund far-left groups like ACORN and the ACLU, signing over American sovereignty to the United Nations and the European Union... he's got a long list! But for every liberal (and usually unconstitutional) Executive Order that Barack Obama issues, we'll alert our Activists to BARRAGE the White House with even MORE phone calls, faxes, emails and even hand-delivered letters and petitions, DEMANDING that he "reverse course" on those Orders or face a Republican Congress in 2010!
• EXPOSE LIBERAL CORRUPTION -- With the Democrats back in power in both Congress and the White House, you KNOW that they'll be falling right back into their habits of taking lobbyists' money under the table, trading votes for campaign contributions, spying on and sabotaging Republican legislative plans, covering up their leaders' sexual "flings," and spending taxpayer money on personal expenses like never before. But this time, YOU AND I will be there every step of the way, making sure that no stone is left unturned, every dark corner is filled with light, and every illegal act is paid for with censure, impeachment, recalls, investigations, and jail time for every criminal we expose in Washington, D.C.
• COUNTER THE LIBERAL MEDIA -- Whenever any of these things take place, we'll be directing our "Reagan Activists" to constantly fill the news media with letters to the editor, guest editorials, and news articles detailing the socialistic and corrupt policies of the new liberal regime, and offering America a better way -- the way of freedom... the CONSERVATIVE way.
Together, we CAN save America from the new liberal regime! Join me now in the NEW Reagan Revolution, to bring Conservatism BACK!
And don't forget -- I'll also be spreading the word the same way I do already: by writing nationally-syndicated columns each week, and by speaking to over five million listeners each and every weekday on my nationwide radio show!
We do NOT have to give up. We do NOT have to slink into some dark corner and lick our wounds. This is OUR MOMENT TO SHINE -- and that's why I'm launching ReaganAction.com!
Like I said before, when the Reagan wing is in control, we win. We don't need kingmakers; we need workers, and until we get them we'll stay the minority party. We don't need to keep the toady liberals who call themselves the "leaders" of the Republican Party; we need conservatives to TAKE BACK the Republican Party, and GET RID OF those losers!
WILL YOU JOIN ME, and hundreds of thousands of your fellow conservative activists nationwide? Let's show these liberals what real REAGAN Republicans can do, when WE'RE in charge of the GOP!
Join me now in the NEW Reagan Revolution, to bring Conservatism BACK!
With Hope in the Future,
Michael Reagan Chairman ReaganAction.com
P.S. Already, the new radical regime in Washington, D.C. is planning their first legislative attacks on America:
• Huge increases in payroll and income taxes; • Redistributionist "share the wealth" policies; • Repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act; • Forcing faith-based groups to hire gays; • Repeal all state regulations on abortion through FOCA; • Require taxpayer funding of abortion through Medicaid; • Block all efforts to "Drill Here, Drill Now" in America; • Impose universal health care through job-killing employer mandates; • Appoint activists liberal Supreme Court judges; • Kill conservative talk radio by re-instituting the "Fairness Doctrine"; • Require comprehensive sex education from the earliest grades in public schools; • Enforce bilingual education in the public schools; • Allow convicted felons to vote; • Take secret ballot voting away from workers deciding on whether to unionize...
The list goes on and on and on...
And it's up to YOU AND I to stop them! Don't let the door slam shut on this opportunity to make a difference...

From: Tony Perkins <firstname.lastname@example.org> Subject: Our plan to fight back Date: Nov 11, 2008 2:52 PM Help FRC Plan for the Liberal Onslaught November 10, 2008
I don't want to sugarcoat the damage our movement absorbed last week.
In January, we will see the government consolidated in the hands of the most radical, left-wing president and Congress in the history of our Republic. And they plan to drastically change our nation the moment they take power.
Never forget: Extreme liberalism does not work as a governing philosophy. As in the past, the Left is likely to suffer a rapid backlash as their policies are exposed... and as they fail to help Americans.
Importantly, most Americans still disagree with the newly elected leaders in Washington, D.C. on issues of faith, family, and freedom.
Our movement seemed doomed in 1976 with a liberal president, Jimmy Carter, and a liberal-dominated Congress. Four years later, Ronald Reagan led a conservative revolution that changed history.
Our movement seemed doomed again in 1992 when Bill Clinton and a liberal-dominated Congress took power. Two years later, conservatives stormed into power in Congress and largely countered the Clinton presidency.
Therefore, FRC is launching a plan to help expose our liberal leaders' radicalism to America even as we short-circuit their agenda in Washington.
Knowing an Obama victory was possible, FRC crafted this plan in advance.
Now I need your help to launch it. Establish a recurring gift to help every month the liberals are in power.
The history of our faith and freedom is the story of men and women like you creating victory out of very bleak moments of apparent defeat.
So make no mistake, this can be our movement's "finest hour."
Help Launch "Our Finest Hour": The FRC Plan to Reverse the Threat to Our Values and Freedom. The plan includes:
Building a Capitol Hill Firewall by supplying conservative and genuinely centrist members of Congress with the facts and answers they will use to stop the radical agenda of the Left.
Building a Supreme Court Firewall by laying the groundwork in the Senate and nation to reject any radical judicial activist nominees.
Building a National Firestorm of facts through a media strategy that will expose the extremism of leaders in the White House and Congress. FRC will prepare a conservative, pro-family comeback as Americans see the true liberal agenda.
We have stood for your values for 25 years. Today, FRC's staff of 80, including respected policy experts, constitute the leading pro-family policy think tank in Washington, D.C., and America. Even the liberal publication The Nation called FRC a "powerhouse."
With your donation, we can win the ideological debate in Washington, D.C.
Your support also helps win the battle for hearts and minds in the national media.
We have the facts... the answers... the proposals... to counter the Left and advance your values.
But at this critical moment, I need your support once again.
Please, let me hear from you today.
Standing (Ephesians 6:13),
Tony Perkins President

Anyone subscribing to the mailing lists of American conservative groups will notice that every day their emails come rolling in with a steady drumbeat of Obama… Obama… Obama…
Obama, the Socialist. Obama the Marxist. Obama the Muslim-appeaser. Obama the late-term abortionist. Obama the destroyer of the American economy. And on and on and on.
There’s nothing wrong with what they send; it’s all fact-based material. But the obsession with Barack Hussein Obama misses the point about what’s wrong with America.
An anonymous email that has been making the rounds recently hits the nail on the head:
The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency. It will be easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to an electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails us. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The republic can survive a Barack Obama. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.
Barack Hussein is not the disease. Barack Hussein is the symptom.
Despite all the cemeteries that were emptied to vote for him, no matter how many ACORN workers were set to work forging absentee ballots, regardless of the legions of homeless people bused to the polling places and paid in wine and cigarettes to pull the lever for Hope and Change — ignoring all the fraud and manipulation, about half the voting populace wanted him to be their president. And, more than a year later, despite all the dire events that have occurred since the inauguration, almost half the country still approves of him.
Obama is not the problem.
To use a term coined by Richard Brookhiser in National Review, Barack Obama represents the “Numinous Negro” to guilty white Americans. He is the righteous savior with the café-au-lait complexion who can raise his well-manicured hand and offer the boon of negro forgiveness to all of us white oppressors. As Shelby Steele says, he promises redemption to white people.
We elected him to purge ourselves of the sin of racism, and if we were to repudiate him now we would be returning to our sinful racist ways. So we will stick with him through thick and thin, though all his megalomaniacal destructiveness, right up until the moment when he extends his arms, pushes the pillars over, and brings the whole temple crashing down on our heads.
There are a lot of reasons why Obama can pull his sleight-of-hand on us with such contemptuous and cavalier ease. Two generations of dumbed-down propaganda in our education system gave him a head start. His success was facilitated by a political culture that detached itself decades ago from any vestige of the Constitution, and which has left our national leaders more than ready to sacrifice the good of the country on the altar of Mammon. An electorate that derives all its political information from network television and the Jon Stewart Show is an easy mark for a huckster with a smooth line, not to mention that longed-for promise of racial redemption.
But the biggest reason for Obama’s success is the dominance of the Left in all of the major national media outlets. With all those Marxists burrowed into every nook and cranny of the broadcast media and cable news networks, with all the major newspapers and the newsmagazines now wholly-owned subsidiaries of the Democratic party, there was no way that Obama could lose.
If there had been any real journalists doing real investigative work, an empty suit like Obama would never have made it through the primaries, much less the general election. But a fully subservient press suppressed the bad news, magnified or created the good news, and made sure that nothing resembling reality was allowed into the story to mar the postmodern “narrative” of Hope and Change.
A couple of weeks ago, in a totally unrelated thread, commenter doom-and-gloom gave this excellent summary of the way the modern mass media operate in today’s West:
Truth is not Officially Knowable They didn’t actually say [the man who brought a gun to the Obama rally] was a white racist, that’s the sweet trick about it. It’s a method I pointed out in another thread — manipulating information in a way that’ll give the audience the desirable false impression without literally lying. The media treat all the protests against Obama’s policies as “white lunatics fueled by racial hatred”. They had to hide the black guy’s skin color because it would have interfered with the message they wanted their viewers to get. So, they used a black man carrying a gun to “prove” the protesters are dangerous white racists, but they didn’t actually say he was a white racist, so technically they didn’t lie — can you get any more cynical than that? Plus, they cropped the picture so that his skin color wouldn't show!
Not that they are above lies and fabrications. For instance, there was a Dutch TV item about Islamophobia showing a Muslim woman carrying a bag of oranges, then she dropped the bag and not one of the people passing by stopped to help her pick up the oranges. As it happened, there was another TV crew from another channel that just happened to be there doing something else and they caught the entire thing on film. Turns out that people did stop by to help her, but every time someone approached her the TV crew asked them to leave. You see, they wanted to “document” the terrible Islamophobia in the Netherlands and all these nice non-Islamophobic Dutch people wanting to help a Muslim woman were ruining their “evidence”, how annoying of them!
“Fake, but accurate” — remember? The journalists just “know” a priori that there is Islamophobia, so they don’t need to actually check if it exists, they just need to “prove” it to the public. And that’s how it is with every subject they “cover” — they “know” what the “reality” is and they “know” what should be done about it, so they don’t need to actually report the news, they just need to make the audience believe whatever the “reporters” believe is true, create public “opinion” and promote the “reporters”‘ desirable policies, candidates and election results. And they will stop at nothing to get there.
There are lots and lots of examples of various ways of deception — from bias and subtle manipulations to straight lies and fabrications. It seems to be the norm rather than the exception. There are no real reporters. After all the lies I saw I don’t believe anything the media “reports”. In terms of quality and reliability there is no difference between professional journalism and amateur blogs. There are no reliable information sources. All of them — professional and amateur — are about advancing some political agenda.
It’s a terrible thing for democracy when there is no real journalism, when the reporters betray their vocation and their vital role in the democratic order. The more people find out they are lied to, the more they will turn to alternative information sources, but the alternative sources are just as bad. It will all descend into chaos.
The MSM problem - and the cure We’re all familiar with the staged news produced by “Pallywood”, the Palestinian propaganda masters who conspire with sympathetic cameramen and reporters for various wire services to produce fake news that implicates Israel. But the entire Western mainstream media are simply Pallywood writ large — much more sophisticated, much more technically accomplished, and much, much better funded.
As for alternative information sources — we’re working on that right here. We’re biased and proud of it, but even so we do our best to get those stubborn facts right. When we goof, our readers point it out promptly, and we have to retract and post a correction. It’s a blog-eat-blog world.
The educational institutions are an entirely different problem. Even if the rot were reversed right now, and all the Marxists forced onto the dole — fat chance! — it would take at least a generation for the pernicious legacy of institutional propaganda to fade out and be replaced with a cohort of truly educated citizens.
I’ve been working for a couple of years on an idea for an alternative to existing educational institutions — call it the “Virtual Open University” — which would be untainted by teachers’ colleges, the NEA, tenure, accreditation, and all the other baneful entrenched practices that have enabled the creation of a nation of sheep.
I’ll have more to say about that topic in a future post. ---
Obama Zombies -- Please Take the Time to Talk to Your Kids and Grandkids! In 2008, Barack Obama lobotomized a generation.
For an entire year, otherwise clear-thinking members of the most affluent, over-educated, information-drenched generation in American history fell prey to the most expensive, hi-tech, laser-focused marketing assault in presidential campaign history.
Twitter messages were machine-gunned to cell phones at mach speed. Facebook and MySpace groups spread across the Internet like digital fire. YouTube videos featuring celebrities ricocheted across the globe and into college students in-boxes with devastating regularity.
All the while, the mega-money-raising engine whirred like a slot machine stuck on jackpot.
The result: an unthinking mass of young voters marched forward to elect the most radical and untested president in U.S. history. Recognized as one of the countrys top young conservative activists by Human Events, Jason Mattera created an internet sensation with ambush video interviews that exposed clueless young liberals and cunning Democratic officials. Now he reveals the jaw-dropping lengths Barack Obama and his allies in Hollywood, Washington, and Academia went to in order to transform a legion of iPod-listening, MTV-watching followers into a winning coalition that threatens to become a long-lasting political realignment.
Obama Zombies uncovers the true, behind-the-scenes story of the methods and tactics the Obama campaign unleashed on youth culture. Through personal interviews and meticulous original research, Mattera explains why conservatisms future rests upon jolting the young masses from their slumber, yanking out their earphones, and sparking a countercultural conservative battle against the rise of the ignorant Left.
The lesson from 2008 is crystal clear: When true conservatives run away, Obama zombies come out to play.
Hungry For Change - Official Trailer http://www.coasttocoastam.com/videos/?uri=channels/455280/1636259 Check out the trailer from James Colquhoun's new film, "Hungry for Change." More info at hungryforchange.tv April 4, 2012 Coast Insider Audio with George Noory The Food Conspiracy: On Tuesday's show, James Colquhoun, director of the film Food Matters, along with health and nutrition expert, Daniel Vitalis, offered insight on why food companies purposely make you addicted to their food, and how eating the right things can make you healthy and stave off illness. There have been a lot of different food fads and diets that have come and gone, said Vitalis, and people are really confused about what to eat. "Either by design or a grand pattern, there's a food conspiracy now," and people out there are starving to death, even though they keep eating and eating, he continued, explaining that many processed foods lack nutrients and are detrimental to health. Artificial sweeteners like aspartame, and flavor enhancers such as MSG are particularly addictive, as well as unhealthy, said Colquhoun, which suggests to him that these additives are put into our food for economic reasons. The FDA doesn't really protect the consumers' interests, but rather, is there rather to facilitate various substances into the marketplace, he added. Vitalis addressed the problem of diet foods, noting that while they may have reduced calories, they have low nutrition. To lose weight, he suggested people increase their nutrient to calorie ratio (http://www.ehow.com/info_8532151_foods-nutrition-calorie-ratio.html). Colquhoun also talked about the problems of sugar being abundantly used in food processing and manufacturing, and the rise of GMO foods. Vitalis outlined methods to detox the body including consuming whole fresh food, using saunas, and drinking clean water (preferably from a natural spring). He also advocated eating organic foods, shopping at local farmer's markets, or even growing your own food from heirloom seeds. Many of us went after Lays about MSG. They have removed it from most if not all chips. We started with the BBQ chips: "We will buy "brand x" (don't remember what we found) until you remove it from your chips. Its is no longer in their BBQ chips. We need this labeled. Then we ALL need to call companies with a competitive brand not containing it. Companies can't afford to lose market share now. We can't afford to hope "someone else" will fix this."
It is amazing how few people notice what is going on in a major part of their environment! This film was made in Whangarei, Northland, New Zealand in April-May 2010 in order to draw people's attention to what is going on in their skies. A series of interviews with locals is presented to show how oblivious the majority of people are to what is going on, followed by an interview with 90-year-old Betty Hooper, a founding member of Grey Power in the region, who is well aware of the chemtrail/geo-engineering issue. Hooper, who has seen chemtrails both in New Zealand and overseas, made the suggestion that a chemtrails watch group be started in the region, hence the Northland New Zealand Chemtrails Watch group website at http://chemtrailsnorthnz.wordpress.com/
The following is from an article written earlier in the year, about Whangarei. Since this was written, the rainfall has been reasonable and frequent:
The smell of chemicals, the presence of chemtrails, aerosol material seen being sprayed from aircraft, distinctive wave patterns in clouds, man-made clouds, persistently cloudy skies without rain, plus the advent of strangely light rain, now seem to be the norm in Whangarei, while last year, they were virtually unknown to the region. Yet in spite of this drastic change to the environment, the drought and seemingly obvious evidence of weather manipulation, many still find it hard to believe that this form of secret warfare could be in play. If it not on TV, then they dont believe it could be happening.
Thankfully, it will now be more difficult for these Doubting Thomas's to put their heads in the sand, as a test on rainwater collected in Whangarei in April, has proven that we do have chemtrail chemicals linked to drought-inducing weather modification technology right here in our skies.
On the 16th of April, shortly after making a short film with Jim Reece, which is at YouTube titled Forecast Toxic Rain Expected in Northland, NZ: Chemtrails & The Technology Of Death, rainwater was collected in Whangarei in order to establish if chemtrail chemicals were in the air in particular, barium and aluminium, which have been linked to drought-inducing weather modification technology overseas.
As you can see, barium was present, so too aluminium and boron. As mentioned, barium should not be in rainwater at all and it mentions on the WHO website that: Boron is not present in the atmosphere at significant levels (Sprague, 1972). Because borates exhibit low volatility, boron would not be expected to be present as a vapour in the atmosphere to any significant degree.
Aluminium may get into rainwater if it is blown up into the air from soil. I collected rainwater in a residential area in my back garden. I am not aware of the content of aluminium in local soil and the Northland Regional Council has not tested the soil in this area before either. However, in light of the fact that aluminium is being found around the world in association with these aerosol operations, many of which have been witnessed in this area, it is fair to assume that at least a significant proportion of the aluminium that was found, originated from aerosols, rather than from natural sources.
To conclude, this provides yet more evidence to show that weather modification technology is being used in this region. Barium and aluminium are hallmarks of chemtrail operations worldwide.
I encourage others to get the rainwater in their areas tested. The more evidence there is to show a criminal operation is taking place, the easier it will be to draw the public's attention to it.

(NaturalNews) Growing up during the Cuban missile crisis taught me the fear of annihilation, and my prepper mentality comes honestly. But I'm not ready for the end of the world any more than you. Prepping for something that may never happen and not knowing the outcome is [difficult] -- you wonder if you're doing it right and how it's gonna to turn out -- you just have to do your best and pray.
The thought of the power going out, the dollar crashing and empty grocery shelves, is unimaginable, causing emotional paralysis, which prevents action. Most of us were not brought up for this. If you're a typical city slicker, overwhelmed with preparing, here's a road map of small things to do now to prepare for uncommon times.
The basics Start now to put away food, water and supplies. Allot $10 each time you go shopping to stock your survival pantry. Water, beans, rice, whole grains, dried meat, dehydrated fruits, veggies.
Store in food-grade plastic buckets adding several dried bay leaves to keep out pests.
An unplugged chest freezer stores dried goods, medicines, vitamins, supplements. Pests can't get in and you can lock it for extra safety.
Make sure you have safe water supplies. Allow at least one gallon of potable water per day for each person or pet. Use glass bottles if possible and preserve with 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. per gallon household bleach to kill bacteria.
Sanitation And Elimination Remember, even during Armageddon, certain natural functions will continue and you'll need supplies. Pack away reusable fabric wipes, rags and towels of all sizes and materials. Include soap, detergent, disinfectant, alcohol, hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. Add a bucket for washing and a bucket for pooping, several bags of lime to sprinkle, and a variety of trash bags.
Be Self-Sufficient Grow your own vegetables in one of many vertical-style gardens. Vertical garden systems are available using aquaponics or hydroponics, eliminating the need for soil. Grow outside or indoors, and year around using grow lights. Vertical systems take up less space, and are invisible from the prying eyes of municipal officials.
Install a wood stove for heat if possible. Consider a rocket stove for cooking outdoors in the summer, especially if you live in a warm climate. Rocket stoves use very little fuel and burn very hot, so make a great emergency heat source.
Medical supplies Purchase extra medications, supplements and vitamins, storing in a cool, dry place. Buy first aid kits and accompanying books for herbal and homeopathic remedies -- learn how to use them -- NOW.
Stock cream of tartar, organic apple cider vinegar, bottled lemon juice, baking soda and epsom salt. They'll keep indefinitely and help you stay healthy by keeping your pH balanced.
Barter Stash gold and silver coins, packets of sugar, salt and coffee to share.
Make friends Get to know your neighbors. They may be the only people around. Making friends now is easier than under duress; and you can assess who's capable of doing what when it's important.
Your attitude The most important thing that will help in an upside down world is how you think. Find it in yourself to be flexible, creative and adaptable along with trusting that all is right -- no matter how wrong things may appear. If you remember what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, and stay centered with an outlook of positive expectancy, you'll be able to cope even in what may appear to be a hopeless situation.
Basic Disaster Supplies Kit http://www.ready.gov/basic-disaster-supplies-kit http://www.ready.gov/food http://www.ready.gov/maintaining-your-kit Maintaining Your Kit Recommended Supplies List (PDF) http://www.ready.gov/sites/default/files/documents/files/checklist_1.pdf Recommended Supplies List (Text) http://www.ready.gov/document/family-supply-list Just as important as putting your supplies together is maintaining them so they are safe to use when needed. Here are some tips to keep your supplies ready and in good condition: * Keep canned food in a cool, dry place. * Store boxed food in tightly closed plastic or metal containers to protect from pests and to extend its shelf life. * Throw out any canned good that becomes swollen, dented or corroded. * Use foods before they go bad and replace them with fresh supplies. * Place new items at the back of the storage area and older ones in the front. * Change stored food and water supplies every six months. Be sure to write the date you store it on all containers. * Re-think your needs every year and update your kit as your family's needs change. Keep items in airtight plastic bags and put your entire disaster supplies kit in one or two easy-to-carry containers, such as an unused trashcan, camping backpack or duffel bag.
A Guide to Safely Eating Green (Finding Food Outdoors In the Wild)
'Above Average' Joe
In an emergency, store shelves could be ransacked within hours.
If you were not lucky enough to get to the store and were ill-prepared at home, with help not appearing to be on the way, you may need to find alternative methods to feed yourself and your family.
If you have a gun and ammo you need to make the decision on whether to use it to procure food or defend your home. Before you go traipsing off into the unknown in search of meat, you should look a little closer to home.
Edible plants grow all around us, regardless of whether you live in the city or the country. I assure you that plucking a few dandelions, while not nearly as satisfying as a big venison steak or rabbit stew, is much easier than spending hours hunting in the woods.
I strongly urge you to become familiar with all of the edible plants in your area well ahead of time and in a controlled environment. The test that I have laid out is “universal”, however not every person will react the same way to a plant.
Before testing a plant for edibility, you need to make sure there are enough plants to make the testing worth your time and effort. Each part of a plant (roots, leaves, flowers, and so on) requires over 24 hours to test. If it is not readily available, it is not worth testing.
Patriot Cartoon of the Day
Vote Maybe Larry Wright, The Detroit News
Remember, eating large portions of plant food on an empty stomach may cause diarrhea, nausea, or cramps. Two good examples of this are such familiar foods as green apples and wild onions. Even after testing plant food and finding it safe, eat it in moderation.
You can see from the steps and time involved in testing for edibility just how important it is to be able to identify edible plants.
To avoid potentially poisonous plants, stay away from any wild or unknown plants that have--
Milky or discolored sap. Beans, bulbs, or seeds inside pods. Bitter /soapy taste. Thorns, spines, hairs and all unknown berries. Some exceptions include thistles and prickly pear cacti Carrot like foliage (Umbrella shaped flowers). Almond or peach scent in woody parts and leaves. ( this normally means that it contains cyanide, which is deadly in even small doses) Grain heads with pink, purplish, or black spurs. Plants whose leaves grow in threes.
Using the above guidelines may eliminate some perfectly safe plants, however these criteria will help you avoid plants that are potentially toxic to eat or even touch.
Below is a small, and by no means comprehensive, list of common edible plants based on the region they typically grow in. Learn as much as possible about the plant life in the areas where you live and/or where you plan to escape to. Having this knowledge can save you much time and intestinal discomfort that in a survival situation can save your life.
Advertisement Will You Let Your Family Starve?
Your local grocery store has about 4 days worth of supplies at a time.
But in times of disaster, store shelves are routinely depleted in just a matter of HOURS.
Unless you have a proven plan in place, you and your family will most likely starve within TWO weeks after a disaster...
Luckily, there are simple steps you can take RIGHT NOW to protect your family's food supply in times of disaster and this free video presentation can show you how:
If you live near a water source, never overlook seaweed. Seaweed is a valuable source of iodine, vitamin C, and other minerals. Just remember seaweed in an unaccustomed stomach can produce a severe laxative effect if too much is ingested.
When gathering seaweeds for food, be sure that you ONLY use living plants attached to rocks or floating free. Seaweed washed onshore any length of time may be spoiled or decayed. You can dry freshly harvested seaweeds for later use.
Preparation and cooking depends on the type of seaweed. Thin and tender varieties can be dried in the sun or over a fire until crisp. Crush and add these to soups or broths. Thick, leathery seaweeds should be boiled for a short time to soften them. Eat them as a vegetable or with other foods. You can eat some varieties raw after testing for edibility. Edible seaweed varieties include:
Dulse Green seaweed Irish moss Kelp) Laver Mojaban Sugar wrack
Universal Edibility Test
Below is a generalized test that shows if a plant is fit for consumption. This test is very time-consuming and should, if at all possible, be performed under controlled conditions and with a partner:
Avoid ever having to use this method without careful planning. Find a plant that is plentiful. Abstain from eating or drinking anything but purified water for 8 hours before the test. Separate a plant into parts. Find out if the plant is contact-poisonous. Rub the selected plant part on the inside of your elbow or wrist to see if your skin reacts. Prepare a small portion of the plant part. Hold a small portion of the prepared plant part against your lip for 3 minutes. Do not put the plant in your mouth. Place another small portion of the plant part on your tongue. Chew the plant and hold it in your mouth for 15 minutes. Swallow the small portion of plant.
Wait 8 hours. Do not eat or drink anything during this period except purified water. If you feel sick, immediately induce vomiting and drink plenty of water. If activated charcoal is available, take that with the water. Discontinue testing if you experience any adverse reaction.
Eat 1/4 cup of the same kind of plant part prepared the same way. It is critical that you use exactly the same part of exactly the same kind of plant, and that you prepare it in exactly the same way as you did the initial sample. Wait an additional 8 hours. Abstain from any other food except purified water. Induce vomiting immediately as above if you should feel ill. Begin a new test, if the plant part you have chosen fails any of the tests.
If you are in a less dire situation and have access to other sources of safe food, you can utilize this test in a more gradual manner, by splitting it up into 3 stages, and using your normal sleep schedule as the pre-test for each stage.
Again, this should only be used if you are in a survival situation
Day 1: Repeat step one of the previous test.
After 8 hours, eat a normal meal (not of the plant under test).
Day 2: complete the test up to swallowing a single piece. After 8 hours, assuming you are well, eat a normal meal again. Day 3: Eat the full sample of the plant under test After 8 hours with no ill side effects the plant should be considered safe for consumption. This alternative method is only to save your body the stress of fasting, and enables you to continually test new plants in your area without going hungry REMEMBER THE WARNINGS I MENTIONED BEFORE!
After you have separated the plant into parts, inspect each part you are preparing for parasites. If you encounter worms or small insects inside the plant, discontinue the test and seek a different sample of the same plant. Worms, parasites or insects indicates that the plant is rotten, especially if the organism has vacated the plant. Many parts of plants are only edible during certain seasons (for example, acorns collected after the Fall are usually rotten). Always Cook underground plant parts if at all possible, to kill bacteria and fungus. Peel ripe tropical fruits and eat raw. If you must eat an unripe fruit, cook it first. Follow all other guidelines with these fruits unless you can specifically identify it as edible Unless they have an onion or garlic smell, avoid ALL plant bulbs If an animal eats a plant, DO NOT assume it is safe for humans. ---
